  • Position Overview:  As the key development leader, this individual works with the President/CEO, the Board of Directors, the Marketing & Resource Development Committee, Volunteers & the League team to plan, coordinate, implement and evaluate our strategies and activities designed to meet the League's Philanthropic and Marketing Goals.


We are offering a starting salary of $70,000 range based on experience, education & the League's budget & is eligible for raises/bonuses annually after initial introductory period has been completed.  FREE dental, FREE long-term disability, FREE life insurance & (Practically FREE) health insurance (only $1.00 per pay check PLUS a $3,015.00 annual HRA fund).  We also offer 4.5% of your annual income into a retirement account **after you meet initial eligibility.  Paid vacations, Personal Time Off, Sick Days & 14 Paid holidays.  We value a positive culture, team-orientated atmosphere, growth opportunities, and a 38 hour work week.


Essential Duties Include:  

Public Relations/Marketing:  

  • Serve as the League's brand manager to ensure that appropriate branding & messaging through the development of procedures and guidance for all external communications are consistent with the League's messages & image.
  • Lead the development and implementation of The League's marketing and branding efforts.
  • Collaborate on the development & implementation of marketing plans for the agency's fee for service ventures.
  • Build a greater public awareness & understanding of the League's mission, vision, and programs with an emphasis on expanding donor involvement through presentations, tours, press releases, and other related media & activities.
  • Serve as manager for The League's Social Media Platforms.

Administrative/Clerical

  • Provide Staff Support for the League's Marketing & Resource Development Committee
  • Serve as a member of the League's management team
  • Record Community Activities, and Information & Referral Contacts in the League's Management Information System.
  • Perform clerical functions associated with the position using The League's computer and office equipment.

Financial (Fundraising):

  • Cultivate relationships with community leaders & individuals in order to expand the League's base of semi-annual, major gifts, capital, corporate & planned gift donors.
  • Engage in donor cultivation activities with existing donors in all areas of giving including increased gifts, major donations & planned gifts.
  • Assist in increasing the number of gifts the League receives through its fund raising campaigns.
  • Research, cultivate and solicit major gifts by moving donors through the giving continuum, and support the Board in these activities.
  • Assist the President/CEO in introducing planned giving to agency donors and capital campaign efforts.
  • Work closely with the President/CEO, the Development & Marketing Team, and the Leadership Team to ensure successful coordination of efforts.
  • Design and implement strategies to obtain endowment gifts.
  • Work with Development & Marketing Manager to plan, coordinate implementation, and evaluate fund raising events.
  • Work with the Development & Marketing Manager to ensure fund raising materials are in support of the League's fund raising activities.
  • Assist the President/CEO, Board of Directors, and volunteers in obtaining funding for special projects, programs, and capital needs.

Planning:

  • Serve as the staff lead in the development of the League's Resource Development and Marketing Strategies & Annual Plans.

Personnel:

  • Provide fundraising training & support for the League's staff & Board.
  • Provide orientation for new staff on the Resource Development & Marketing team staff.
  • Supervise all Resource Development & Marketing team staff.
  • Evaluate performance of all Resource Development & Marketing team staff.
  • Annually review and, as needed, modify Resource Development & Marketing team, as needed.
  • Maintain a positive work environment.

QUALIFICATIONS, REQUIREMENTS and DEMANDS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required. Prefer a qualified person with a disability.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university; or two years of post-secondary education and four years successful experience in fundraising and/or sales as a paid professional or an equivalent combination of education & experience.  Post secondary education training in fundraising preferred.


LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common professional journals, donor information, and donor guidelines. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints.  Ability to use verbal language skills to effectively convince and persuade others. Ability to use written language skills to effectively communicate The League’s progress and present needs to donors and prospective donors. Ability to independently write reports, grants, correspondence, e-mail, and other documents that are accurate and complete using correct grammar, punctuation, and spelling.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers common fractions and decimals. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages and ratios.


REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to plan and coordinate complex projects.


INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Ability to work cooperatively, effectively, and efficiently with volunteers, agency board members, staff members, and agency management. Ability to quickly build positive relationships with donors and donor prospects. Ability to work independently, maintain positive working relationships, and function consistently as a contributing member of The League’s staff team.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is required to: 1. regularly talk and hear to communicate, 2. regularly use fingers, hands, and arms to manipulate objects, 3. regularly sit, stand, and walk, and 4. occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.


EQUIPMENT OPERATION REQUIREMENTS: Ability to independently operate, or learn to independently operate, League office equipment such as fax and copy machines to perform job-related duties and assignments. Ability to independently operate, or learn to independently operate, The League’s computer network and software to perform job related duties and assignments. Experience working with database, CRM or other pipeline management software is desired.


TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to travel independently: occasionally throughout The League’s service region, rarely in the state, and rarely in an interstate region. Must have dependable transportation to meet these requirements. Travel may be as much as 20-25% in a given week at certain peak times in the League’s service area.


WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions while traveling to service locations  Noise levels while traveling are usually moderate.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee typically works in the League's office environment.  The noise level in this work environment is usually low.
