Title: Elementary School Physical Education Teacher

Reports To: Principal

Do you want to work in an environment where student needs are at the forefront of all decision-making? At The dePaul School for Dyslexia, we focus on identifying the needs of our learners and filling in specific learning gaps utilizing research-based, explicit, sequential, multisensory teaching methods. We support our staff with ongoing professional development to stay current on best practices for assessing teaching students with language-based learning differences.

 

Day-to-day responsibilities:

·       Develops and implements curriculum and shows written evidence of preparation as required for Physical Education.

·       Presents the subject matter according to guidelines established by school administration.

·       Plans and uses appropriate instructional/learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment.

·       Cooperates with other members of the staff in planning and implementing instructional goals, objectives, and methods.

     Coordinates and coaches 3 sports per year after school for middle school students.

·       Uses technology in the teaching/learning/ assessing process.

·       Consistently assesses student achievement through formal and informal assessments.

·       Supervise students.

·       Coordinate teacher responsibilities with supervisor including lunch duty, carline, parent teacher conferences and open houses. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university required.
  • Teaching experience preferred. 
  • Experience working with children with language-based learning differences preferred.
