Position Type:     Full-time - Hours will be 31 - 35 hours per week based on program schedule (This is temporary position for leave coverage)
Compensation: $28.39 per hour

Social Enterprise for Canada (SEC) is a charitable organization started in 1989 and serving York Region, Peel Region and Simcoe County. SEC seeks, secures and delivers a range of public services dedicated to creating communities that exemplify Canadian values of respect, inclusion, diversity, equity and sustainability. 
SEC maintains its head office in Newmarket and provides public service signature expertise for immigrants, newcomers, early learning and development, Family Justice Service, Career and Labour market integration through programs such as Supervised Access, EarlyOn Child & Family Centres, Welcome Centre for Immigrant Services-Newmarket and several Before & After School and Licensed Childcare Programs.

The Opportunity 

The Early Learning Specialist plays a key role in delivering high-quality programs and services for children and families. This position requires a demonstrated ability to deliver core programs, four-season outdoor programming, virtual programming, and a variety of specialized child and family programs. The Early Learning Specialist consistently meets all expectations of the role and applies “How Does Learning Happen?” in a meaningful and intentional way, fostering positive experiences, engagement, and learning opportunities for children and their families.

Key Job Responsibilities

Proven ability to effectively facilitate and adapt to the participants through a variety of activities that are aimed at engaging participants in the four foundations of HDLH and life-long learning and virtual program delivery
The ability to modify programs to meet the changing needs of participants 
Effectively uses observation and documentation to plan programs and share knowledge of inquiry-based learning to engage parents and caregivers.
Demonstrated ability to independently deliver core programs and specialized services meeting KPI/Outcomes 
Establish stable and consistent relationships with each child and their families/caregivers
Extremely knowledgeable on all phases of work with the ability to deliver 40% of all programs/services
Skilled at identifying referral supports and sharing identified information based on client needs and has the ability to recognize indicators (red flags), communicate with families and promote appropriate screenings e.g. ERIK, NDIS
Aptitude to deliver additional supports to families through referral follow up and case management
Acquires additional trainings both internally and externally to further professional skill development 
Able to present acquired information and knowledge to the team in a logical and professional manner.
Being more intentional in establishing, maintaining and supporting strong relationships with colleagues, teams, children, families and community partners
Introduces strategies to promote efficiency and streamline of processes.
Has control over feelings toward others that fosters strong relationships, inclusion and respect
Shows an ability and availability to mentor students and ELS I as required
Other duties, relevant to the position, shall be assigned as required

Requirements

Maintain a Current Registration with the College of ECE (RECE) 
Successfully meets all performance standards required for the ELS position. 
Solid understanding of planning and delivering programs including virtual programming and an inquiry based emergent curriculum (HDLD) 
Ability to deliver indoor, outdoor four-season face to face programing and virtual on-line programming with knowledge of video-making using different platforms
Has acquired training with ability to deliver several specialized programs/services
Strong working knowledge of policies and procedures related to program and specialized services 
This position includes weekend and evening availability to deliver on site and virtual programs
Locations and schedule will change Monday to Sunday to meet program needs
Current Clean Police Records Check.


Work Conditions

May be exposed to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc.
Intermittent physical activity including walking, standing, sitting, bending, kneeling, crouching or crawling, lifting and supporting children. 
Interacts with children, youth, family members, administration, staff, visitors and community partners
Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
Flexible work schedules including evenings and weekends 
Programs are in various sites across York Region, own reliable transportation is a must
