Position Status: Full-Time (4-month term; possible permanent)
Salary: $38,000 - $44,000 per year

About the role:
Reporting directly to the Aquatics Manager, this role is responsible for the coordination of administrative functions around aquatics programming and delivery. Through coaching, leadership and collaboration of the Aquatics team, this position is accountable for championing our Y core value and mandate through the delivery of meaningful, safe, positive, inclusive programming within the community.
Is this role, you will:
- Be responsible for the coordination, administration, and delivery of aquatics programming in keeping with the YMCA Aquatics Swim Instruction and The Y Way standards, ensuring a high level of member satisfaction, engagement, and retention
- Support and occasionally lead aquatics programs, such as swim lesson instruction and aquatics leadership courses
- Build, foster, and maintain positive working relationships with participants, community members, staff and volunteer in efforts to enhance and promote our Y profile in the community
- Evaluate, present, and initiate recommendations to enhance participant satisfaction, engagement, and retention to ensure the delivery of quality aquatics programming
- Ensure Aquatics Centre and program delivery meets or exceeds any and all provincial/public health regulations, Child Protection, and Aquatics safety standards
- Manage programming administration including maintenance of program statistics, staff certifications, participant information, wait list management, safety/program supply procurement, and other tasks as required to support smooth, effective program delivery and compliance
- Ensure fair, consistent, and equitable application of all Talent Management processes including staff and volunteer recruitment, onboarding, and development. Model Y values and behavior standards in regard to professionalism and maintenance of a respectful environment
- Facilitation and delivery of positive internal and external communications, including responding to program questions, participant concerns, sharing of resources/information, and fostering collaborative efforts with internal departments in aim of supporting program delivery and Y mandate
- Other duties as assigned
Education and skills qualifications"
- Post-secondary degree in physical education, recreation or a related field recommended
- 1-3 years of supervisory experience in aquatics, recreation field
- 3-5 years’ Experience in delivery of aquatic youth and adult programming
- Current National Lifeguard Service, Standard First Aid & CPR and Swim Instructor certification required
- Lifesaving Instructor, NLS Instructor, Bronze or NLS Examiner an asset
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to establish rapport with clients
- Proven track record of programming excellence and dedication to safety
- Demonstrated ability to meet multiple, competing deadlines
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required
