Schedule: Monday - Thursday 

Hours:
 28 hrs/week
Wage:  $29.17- $33.49/hour (Starting at $29.17/hr)
Grid:  12

  August 13, 2025
End Date:  November 10, 2025 or until return of incumbent

Opportunity

The Program Coordinator, Older Adult Programs will work within the Community Development Department coordinating programs that provide immigrant and refugee seniors with higher needs access to social, recreational and nutritional supports and volunteer opportunities. This position will work closely with the Older Adult and Volunteer Program teams.

The Key Areas of Responsibility are: 

  • Contributes to the success of the Seniors’ programs by ensuring that the necessary facilities and equipment are in place, program guidelines and policies are adhered to, and program standards are met.
  • Coordinates Social Meals Program, including all associated reporting requirements.
  • Provides back-up support to all Older Adult Program Coordinators.
  • Supports with the invoicing and reconciliation of program expenses.
  • Liaises with community service providers and other professionals to coordinate service provision.
  • Maintains a service map of community resources.
  • Orients, trains, monitors and provides support to Social Meals program volunteers.
  • Coordinates all Community & Older Adult Team meetings, with support from the Manager.
  • Collects, reviews and submits team timesheets bi-weekly to Manager.
  • Manages team calendar.
  • Other related duties as assigned by the Manager.

Qualified Candidates will possess:

  • Diploma in a related human /social service related field;
  • Two years recent related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training & experience
  • Program/Project Coordination or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience;
  • Excellent written and spoken English;
  • Fluency in speaking, reading and writing in Arabic is an asset;
  • Knowledge of the needs and issues of senior immigrants and refugees in Canada and appropriate community resources;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of case management framework;
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully and cooperatively on interagency project initiatives;
  • Demonstrated experience and ability working with diverse populations;
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate and supervise volunteers
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills;
  • Sound knowledge of community resources and ability to network and build partnerships;
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and meet deadlines;
  • Ability to use a computer, including MS Windows, MS Word and the internet.
