IT Systems Specialist
Status: Regular, Full Time, 37.5 hours per week
Salary: This position starts at $70,000 per year and increases to $96,325 per year, over a 10- year period. This salary range incorporates experience, yearly salary increments to reward years of service, employee growth and development within the organization.

Purpose of the job
DIVERSEcity Community Resources Society is seeking a full-time IT Systems Specialist to oversee and provide support towards the maximization and improvement of our IT systems and processes. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Data Systems and Evaluation, the Specialist is responsible for leading IT System projects at DIVERSEcity in order to enhance IT services, policy, procedures, and workflows.
The incumbent will plan, organize, direct, manage and review the work of staff engaged in IT system and infrastructure change; set performance and development goals, conduct performance evaluations; train, coach and mentor staff; and make decisions regarding the selection, discipline and termination of staff.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for infrastructure management functions including, system monitoring, reporting, analysis, back-ups, preventative maintenance, patch applications, capacity planning, upgrades and software deployment.
- Implement and maintain IT security measures, including firewalls, antivirus, and intrusion detection systems, including security audits and vulnerability assessments.
- Support DIVERSEcity senior management on strategic leadership and oversight of the development and roll-out of plan for IT enhancements and initiatives.
- Develop internal standards and execute testing to validate the functionality and performance of IT system and process improvements;
- Contribute to process documents and training plans to deliver and support end user training and facilitate adoption and sustainability of IT solutions, applications and processes;
- Provide training and support to staff on IT security best practices.
- Supervise and mentor the IT Systems staff.
- Leads IT projects, including the design and deployment of new IT systems and services.
- Monitors performance of information technology systems to determine cost and productivity levels, and to make recommendations for improving the IT infrastructure.
- Ensures IT services and infrastructure are aligned with current legislation, industry best practices, funder requirements, and accreditation standards.
- Provides oversight on budgetary and contractual requirements related to IT capital, infrastructure and projects
- Support assessment, selection, and renewal of contracts with vendors. Lead development of test strategies for new hardware and software options.
- Maintains Capital Asset Management Program for IT and other infrastructure supports. Oversight of inventory management of IT equipment and ensuring adequate supply is maintained, ensuring compliance with associated policies and procedures.
- Collaborates around improvement of onboarding and offboarding policies and processes in the assignment and return of IT equipment and assets.
- Develops and maintains positive relationships with all levels of the staff to provide information and answer any questions in regards to IT systems;
- Mentors, develops, and trains employees to provide a solid understanding of procedures, policies, and functions relating to IT systems
- Special projects and other related duties, as required.

- Internally with Programs Managers/Directors
- And externally IT related vendors
Qualified candidates will possess:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 3 - 5 years progressive experience working in IT operations, with increasing leadership responsibilities.
- Demonstrated experience leading IT projects.
- Excellent working knowledge of computer systems, security, network and systems administration, databases and data storage systems, and phone systems.
- Firm grasp on IT infrastructure and operations best practices.
- Demonstrate ability to work with a demanding work schedule with competing priorities simultaneously;
- Strong negotiation, mediation, conflict resolution and contract interpretation skills;
- Computer literacy in Power Point, MS Word, MS Excel, E-mail, and internet applications.
- Demonstrated cross-cultural experience and/or knowledge of immigrant settlement and integration issues.
- Experience in a community based non-profit society is an asset;
- Supervision experience in a unionized environment is an asset;
- Available to work some evenings and weekends as required;
- Valid BC (British Columbia) Class 5 Driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
