Position Summary:

Are you a detail-driven, analytical accounting professional looking to make a meaningful contribution? TNDC is hiring a Senior Accountant to support our growing finance team and drive financial accuracy across our operations. Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, you'll lead key functions like fixed asset and inventory accounting, journal entries, job costing, and more — all while collaborating with departments like operations, warehouse, and procurement.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Manage fixed asset accounting, including tracking, capitalization, depreciation, and disposals in accordance with accounting standards.
  • Oversee inventory accounting processes, ensuring accurate valuation, reconciliation, and coordination with warehouse and procurement teams.
  • Prepare and post month-end and year-end journal entries and develop supporting schedules for equipment and inventory-related accounts.
  •  Complete monthly account reconciliations for allocated accounts.
  • Collaborate with operations to review construction job performance and ensure accurate cost accruals.
  • Support capital expenditure tracking and contribute to improvements in inventory and financial systems.
  •  Assist with internal and external audits by preparing required documentation and ensuring compliance with internal controls and financial policies.
  • Provide analysis and insight to improve financial processes and reporting accuracy.
  • Other duties as required.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.

o   Years of experience will be considered.

  • Strong preference for candidates currently enrolled in the CPA program or holding a CPA designation.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Experience in job costing, standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory control.
  • Background in manufacturing, construction, mining, or logistics industries is preferred.
  • Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, Microsoft Dynamics) is an advantage.
  • Ability to interpret complex financial data and provide insights to non-financial stakeholders.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Strong knowledge of IFRS/ASPE, with expertise in fixed assets, inventory, job costing, and construction accounting.
  • Proficient in financial reporting, reconciliations, journal entries, and audit preparation.
  • Skilled in ERP systems, and inventory/asset management software (e.g., Fiix CMMS).
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, macros) and proficiency in data analysis.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in financial documentation.
  • Adaptable and self-motivated, with the ability to lead or collaborate effectively in fast-paced environments.
  • Experience supporting financial controls, compliance, and mentoring junior team members.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
  • Proven leadership or mentorship experience to coach junior staff or collaborate across departments.


CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Ability to pass a mandatory pre-access drug and alcohol screening to visit site.
  • Willingness to sign an Oath of Confidentiality.
  • Valid driver’s license and current abstract

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Flexibility to work overtime during peak operational periods; ability to meet deadlines under pressure. 
  • Travel to various TNDC sites and offices.
