- Maintain, repair and renovate buildings and other facilities on site;
- Measure, cut and assemble wood/melamine elements;
- Adjust and install carpentry elements such as doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware;
- Perform other manual work, such as painting, plumbing, basic tiling, appliance/air conditioning replacement, etc;
- Follow up on job-related inventories (wood, hardware, etc.);
- Recommend improvements and alternative methods (problem solving);
- Handle various objects weighing up to 22 kilos;
- Report to supervisor any situation that could affect the work and safety of workers;
- Suggest improvements and innovative ideas;
- Comply at all times with health & safety and environmental policies and regulations;
- Assist area supervisors in their daily tasks;
- Comply at all times with occupational health and safety and environmental policies and regulations;
- Perform any other tasks related to the position of specialized surface service laborer that are relevant to the success of the project.
- (DEP) in carpentry and joinery with (3) years' experience, or any equivalent combination of training and relevant experience will be considered;
- Valid class 5 driver's license.
Technical skills
- Good carpentry skills and knowledge;
- Knowledge of cleaning products and safe handling methods (WHMIS);
- Skytrack-type lifting equipment certification (an asset).
- Experience operating heavy machinery (an asset).
Basic skills
- Knowledge of carpentry methods, tools and equipment;
- Read and interpret blueprints;
- Ability to work physically and outdoors in harsh weather conditions;
- Ability to lift loads up to 22 kg;
- Ability to work at heights;
- Enjoy manual work and be resourceful;
- Be meticulous;
- Ability to work independently.
