The Early Learning Educational Assistant III role is integral to implementing ABC Head Start’s mission and vision. You will deliver early learning programming using Flight, SCERTs, and Safe Management pedagogical frameworks as directed by the Early Learning Teacher. Working collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams, parents, and administrators, you will create a nurturing, inclusive learning environment that meets each child’s unique needs, promoting resilience, growth, and success.

What You’ll Do

  • Work closely with colleagues, families, and interdisciplinary teams to set consistent learning goals and strategies that promote social-emotional and cognitive development
  • Participate in team meetings, offering insights on child progress and family dynamics
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in early learning and trauma-informed care
  • Promote and model positive behavior and conflict resolution strategies to create a culture of safety, respect, and emotional well-being among children and staff

About You

You thrive in a collaborative, dynamic environment where no two days are the same, bringing integrity, empathy, and a passion for making a difference. With strong communication skills, you build trust and foster teamwork while delivering results and maintaining service excellence. Your ability to plan, organize, and adapt ensures efficiency in achieving goals. Bonus points if you have experience supporting children facing unique challenges or from diverse cultural backgrounds, as this enhances your ability to connect and contribute effectively.

Must-Haves:

  • Early Learning and Childcare Diploma, Bachelor of Child Studies degrees, or Bachelor of Early Childhood Curriculum studies3- 5 years experience working in preschool aged classroom environment as the leading educator
  • Certification in Safe Management, SCERTs or Flight (preferred or willingness to obtain)
  • Prior experience working with children who have complex needs, including behavioral challenges, developmental delays, or exceptionalities
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Strong understanding of early childhood development, inclusive education, and trauma-informed practices
  • Clear criminal record check with vulnerable sector completed obtained within 60-days of date of hire
  • Valid Standard First Aid certification or completion within 30-days of hire.

Nice-to-Haves:

  • A knack for creativity and problem-solving. Experience in inclusive, multicultural environments. A love of play-based learning (bonus if you’re great at hide-and-seek!).

Working with Us

This position is based in our Edmonton classrooms, with occasional opportunities to engage in community outreach. Compensation starts at $25.35/hour, with increases based on experience and qualifications. Position start date September 2, 2025.

(ABC Head Start does not qualify for the Alberta Child grant funding wage top-up)
