Reporting to the Director of Philanthropy, the Communications Specialist will be responsible for the development and implementation of Easter Seals Alberta’s storytelling. The Communications Specialist will combine hands-on execution with strategic thinking. This role is critical in driving revenue growth and building impactful relationships with key stakeholders.

 

Responsibilities:

·          Develop and implement effective templates, writing/style guides, and workflows to establish a unified voice and streamline the communication process.

·          Create visual tools (images/reels/stories/event collateral/campaign materials) that support specific messaging.

·          Ensure that all communications are consistent, brand-aligned, and effectively convey the impact of Easter Seals Alberta’s services and programs.

·          Manage Easter Seals Alberta’s content calendar with a focus on increasing engagement and reach.

·          Manage Easter Seals Alberta Social Media platforms including but not limited to responding to online reviews, providing feedback/responses to social media comments or questions, issues management from a brand perspective.

·          Manage media relations, including press releases, interviews, and media placements.

·          Partner with other departments to craft compelling stories and profiles that highlight impact and drive engagement, encouraging support.

·          Proactively write, edit, and create diverse content for all audiences. This includes e-newsletters, web content, social media posts, e-appeals, print publications, video storyboarding and scripting, video production, stories, and profiles.

·          Run quarterly content calendar meetings with all staff to collect cross-departmental Marketing and Communications needs

·          Support Development team in maintaining supporter database, ensuring clean data standards are maintained and that all communications are CASL compliant.

·          Provide tours of Easter Seals Camp Horizon as needed

·          Other duties as required.

 

This is a full-time position that requires in-person work 3 days per week, including Wednesdays.


 

What you bring to Easter Seals Alberta:

·          A Bachelor’s degree required with at least 4 years of progressive successful experience as either a writer/editor or as a not for profit storyteller professional.

·          Demonstrated success supporting reports to individuals, corporations, foundations, granting agencies, and/or government.

·          A commitment to inclusivity, diversity, equity, and accessibility.

·          Excellent time-management and organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.

·          Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tell compelling, human-centric stories for various audiences, especially prospective and current donors.

·          Experience in creating a robust storytelling library leveraging all mediums to grow the awareness and support.

·          Experience with email marketing platforms (e.g. HubSpot, Mailchimp, etc), and familiarity with email set up and delivery best practices.

·          Experience with WordPress or other content management systems, as well as Canva and other creative platforms.

·          Expertise and knowledge in creating successful direct mail, marketing materials, online giving appeals including social media, and campaigns including integration of e-commerce platforms.

·          Proficient in Microsoft tools such as Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

·          Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
