Reporting to the maintenance manager, the fixed equipment maintenance superintendent will be responsible for the optimal management of fixed equipment maintenance work by demonstrating leadership in health and safety management. He or she will also be responsible for the sound management of sector personnel and for monitoring the sector's budgetary process and costs. Based at the Windfall site in the Nord-du-Québec region, he or she will work an eight (8) day work schedule followed by six (6) days off. Transportation, accommodation and meals provided. 

FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Act at all times as a leader in safety, environment and community relations in order to help achieve the highest standards;
  • Comply at all times with occupational health and safety and environmental policies and regulations and ensure that these rules are complied with by staff;
  • Supervise, supervise and direct the work of the employees of the fixed mechanical department as well as subcontractors and contract staff;
  • Work in close collaboration with other departments in order to coordinate work efficiently and participate in various meetings related to his/her department;
  • Support, develop and improve maintenance system techniques and act in such a way as to optimize the efficiency of interventions related to equipment problems (in accordance with occupational health and safety standards);
  • Coordinate the improvement and maintenance of the various plant and underground equipment;
  • Develop and implement work procedures; 
  • Analyzing and identifying the causes of problems by implementing corrective measures to prevent the recurrence of these problems;
  • Improving preventive maintenance processes and the management of maintenance contracts;
  • Organizing and supervising work on various types of equipment during planned shutdowns on site;
  • Ensuring the training and continuous development of the fixed maintenance group;
  • Monitor the KPIs of the fixed mechanical department to ensure equipment availability and compliance with maintenance costs.
  • Initiate and actively collaborate in the department's day-to-day activities and meetings.
  • Encourage the participation of the staff under his/her supervision and create a working atmosphere conducive to the achievement of the department's objectives.
  • Provide support to the various equipment improvement projects in his/her sector.
  • Work in collaboration with the planning department to develop preventive maintenance and to inventory spare parts;
  • Perform any other tasks related to the position of maintenance superintendent that are relevant to the success of the project.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Diploma of College Studies (DEC) in mechanical engineering;
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience, including five (5) years of supervisory experience;
  • Minimum of five (5) years of supervisory experience;
  • Valid class 5 driver's license;
  • Mining modules (FMTM) 1-2-3-4-5 and 7 (an asset).

TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Bilingualism in English and French (will have to communicate with the company's managers and English-speaking suppliers);
  • In-depth knowledge of fixed factory mechanics, hydraulics, machining and welding;
  • Excellent knowledge of the mining industry, industry practices and technical progress;
  • In-depth knowledge of best practices in maintenance, reliability and asset management;
  • Excellent knowledge of the laws and regulations applicable to exploration and mining sites;
  • Knowledge of maintenance management software (CMMS);
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Excel, etc.).
