Finance Assistant
Job Summary
Reporting to the Finance manager, Accounting Assistant is responsible for assisting the Finance Manager and Accountant on gathering, analyzing and reporting financial information for LMSCL. They work with payroll and bookkeeping systems to enter financial data and assist managers to analyze and interpret them.
Education & Experience
- Requires completion of a diploma in a related accounting field
- Minimum of 1 year related experience working in accounting or financial organization/department/division in Canada is necessary
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel advanced functionalities is required
- A bachelor's or master's degree, in Finance, Accounting, Accounting Administration, Business Administration, or finance Management from a Canadian institution is preferred
- Being a CPA (Charter Professional Accountant) is an asset
- Working knowledge of Payworks payroll system is an asset
- Working knowledge of QuickBooks is an asset
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Power BI is an asset
Roles and Responsibilities
- Prepares Payroll each pay period
- Assists in Bookkeeping on a daily basis
- Prepares employee benefits and municipal pension plan list, and acts as a liaison between LMSCL and the insurance or pension company as necessary
- Examines bank statements and reconciling them with general ledger entries
- Assists in Examining expenses submitted by employees
- Assists in creating company financial reports with the above information included
- Assists in analysis of collected data in order to determine the state of the company’s financial health
- Assists in analyzing data to understand where the company is generating and losing revenue
- Assists in examining the proficiency of the software programs used to organise data
- Assists in generating financial reports that display the company’s profits, equity and cash flow
- Fulfills other tasks relevant to the job description that is not listed above but assigned by the Finance Manager or Accountant
- Performs other related duties as required.

- Financial analysis skills

- Microsoft Office, especially MS-Excel advanced functionalities such as macros, lookup fields, etc.

Hours of Work and Location
- 40 hours per week Mon-Fri (Full time)

- Vancouver Head office (#313-8495 Ontario Street, Vancouver, BC V5X 3E8)
Probationary Period
Three (3) months. This period may be extended by an additional three (3) months if it is considered inadequate to determine the outcome, such as in cases of leave exceeding one week or unsatisfactory performance. In all circumstances, LMSCL reserves the right to terminate the employee if they are deemed unfit for the position.
Pay Grade
$27/hour. Rate is negotiable for CPA who has worked for a financial institution in Canada and has a proven track record.
