EngAge Meadows Seniors Program is funded by the United Way and designed for adults aged 55+. It creates a welcoming and diverse community for older adults who may face mobility, cognitive, or emotional challenges. Through social, recreational, and wellness activities, participants connect more deeply to their histories, identities, and one another. Program highlights include nutritious meals, crafts, gentle physical exercise, group outings, and opportunities to build meaningful relationships
The Program Support Worker plays a key role in delivering group-based activities that foster inclusion, social connection, and wellbeing for seniors. The role involves planning, leading, and evaluating group sessions, recruiting and coordinating volunteers, and ensuring that programs reflect the interests, abilities, and feedback of participants. This position also provides supportive guidance, skill-building, and referrals when appropriate, aligning with the values of inclusivity, empowerment, and community support
Key Duties & Responsibilities
• Plan, prepare, and lead engaging social, emotional, recreational, and wellness activities twice a week for older adults.
• Gather feedback from seniors to shape activities that are meaningful, inclusive, and reflective of diverse abilities and interests.
• Recruit, orient, and support volunteers who assist with program activities.
• Provide supportive listening, basic skill-building, and referrals to other community resources as appropriate.
• Track participation, conduct satisfaction surveys, contribute to program evaluations, and maintain accurate records.
• Promote awareness of the program, liaise with community partners, and represent Community Services at relevant events.
• Perform related duties as required to ensure safe, inclusive, and high-quality programming
Qualifications
• Certificate or diploma in a related social services field with a minimum two (2) years of recent experience working with vulnerable seniors, including volunteer recruitment and support; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Additional Requirements:
• Clear Criminal Record Check
• Current First Aid & CPR certification
• Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle with appropriate insurance
• Annual driver’s abstract
• Union membership (CUPE)
Shift/Schedule/Hours per week: 14 hours per week – Monday and Tuesday
Expected Start Date: ASAP
Wage/Salary: starting at $27.54 per hour
Grid Level: 11
