OVERVIEW

Ridley College is seeking an Assistant Director of Athletics to join our Athletics leadership team in a full-time, permanent capacity. This position is designed for an experienced athletics professional who brings a high degree of operational expertise and leadership capability, and who thrives in advancing operational excellence, program effectiveness, and student-athlete experience within a dynamic school environment.

Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the Assistant Director of Athletics plays a critical leadership role in the planning, coordination, and execution of Ridley’s comprehensive athletics program. The role is accountable for the effective day-to-day operation of competitive and recreational sport programming, including scheduling, events, travel logistics, facilities coordination, equipment management, and systems oversight, while ensuring compliance with school policies, league regulations, and risk management protocols.

The Assistant Director works closely with coaches, facilities staff, and cross-campus partners to deliver a safe, well-organized, and high-quality athletics experience. This includes providing operational guidance to coaching staff, supporting financial and budget processes, contributing to the planning and delivery of major athletic events and championships, and serving as a site supervisor when required to ensure continuity of operations and adherence to policy.

Athletics is a core component to Ridley’s holistic educational experience. This role will be deeply aligned with the College’s mission, values, and commitment to student well-being, long-term athlete development, and positive education. This role is well suited to experienced professionals currently managing athletics operations in independent schools, public secondary systems, or post-secondary institutions, who are seeking a meaningful leadership opportunity within a globally minded and focused educational community.

The successful candidate will bring a combination of education, experience, and leadership capability to the role, including:

A post-secondary degree in Sport Management, Physical Education, Business, or a related field.

Three (3) or more years of progressive experience in athletics administration, operations, or program leadership within a secondary school, independent school, or post-secondary environment.

Demonstrated success leading athletics operations, including scheduling, events, facilities coordination, travel logistics, budgeting support, and risk management.

Knowledge of and experience coaching in CISAA, CAIS, OSBA, OWHA associations is considered an asset.

Experience working in highly collaborative environments, building effective relationships with coaches, educators, administrators, and external partners.

High-level understanding of physical literacy, long-term athlete development, and student well-being in school-based or post-secondary sport.

Demonstrate sound judgment, a solutions-oriented mindset, and the ability to lead with confidence in a high-performance, student-centred environment.

Financial and administrative acumen, with experience supporting budgets, managing expenses, and maintaining accurate operational records.

Proficiency with athletics management systems, scheduling software, and Microsoft Office 365, with the ability to leverage systems to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

Current or ability to obtain required certifications, including First Aid, CPR/AED, and related safety training.

With fluctuating workloads during peak competitive seasons, tournaments, and events, this role requires flexibility to work evenings and weekends in alignment with athletic schedules.

Salary Range: $65,000-$75,000
