Shop Foreman
RFNOW Inc. is seeking applications from motivated individuals to join our Construction and Maintenance Team. The Shop Foreman is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a busy repair shop, ensuring the efficient maintenance and repair of heavy equipment and machinery. This leadership role involves supervising a team of skilled mechanics and apprentices, managing workflows, and ensuring all repairs are completed safely, on time, and to the highest industry standards. The Foreman will be responsible for diagnosing complex mechanical issues, coordinating preventive maintenance schedules, and maintaining inventory of parts and tools. Additionally, the role requires fostering a positive work environment, promoting continuous training, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations, all while delivering top-notch service to internal and external clients.
General Responsibilities:
- Manage Shop space and lead team of mechanics and apprentices.
- Service, diagnose, and repair heavy and light trucks, as well as heavy equipment.
- Perform preventative maintenance as needed.
- Use related instruments, hand and power tools, secondary equipment, and computer systems.
- Accurately record repairs performed and time taken for the repair.
- Continuously review potential hazards and ensure work is performed safely and to high standards.
- Conduct vehicle and trailer inspections.
- Train and mentor junior apprentices.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Must be a certified Journeyman in the Heavy-Duty or Automotive Technician trade.
- Previous experience in a heavy equipment environment is an asset.
- Capable of meeting the physical demands of the heavy-duty mechanic trade.
- Previous leadership experience and asset.
- Strong communication skills.
- Class 5 license required; Class 1A or 3A license preferred.
- Welding experience is an asset.
Requirements:
- This position typically involves working in a garage or shop setting, with exposure to various weather conditions and noise levels.
- Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs or more, with assistance) and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Comfortable working in various environments, including outdoors and in confined spaces.
Job Details:
- General hours of work: Monday to Friday, 7:00 am to 5:00 pm
- Wage: $40 - $45 per hour based on experience
