Job Summary:
The Reporting Specialist is responsible for overseeing and managing the company’s compliance with the Resource Recovery and Circular Economy Act (RRCEA) and its accompanying individual producer responsibility regulations and industry standards. This role involves developing and implementing compliance programs, audit procedures, conducting audits, and ensuring that the organization adheres to regulatory requirements and internal programs. The Compliance and Reporting Specialist will work closely with various departments to promote a culture of compliance and mitigate risks for its Producer clients and itself associated with non-compliance.
Position Description:
- Navigate producer responsibility and sustainability regulatory environments in a meticulous, proactive and legally compliant manner.
- Monitor, document, and analyse extended producer responsibility (EPR) legislative frameworks.
- Stay up to date with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Develop and implement compliance programs, including policies and procedures, to ensure adherence.
- Assess compliance risks and develop strategies to overcome deficiencies and ensure effective control measures are implemented.
- Assess Producer obligations against EPR legislative and program requirements and develop and implement compliance plans.
- Create and maintain effective relationships with RPRA, third Party Audit Providers, Internal and External Stakeholders, Legal Bodies and Consultants.
- Develop continuous improvement plans related to compliance activities
- Evaluate how changes in regulations affect the organization, Producers, service providers, and update policies and processes accordingly.
- Collaborate with relevant departments to address and resolve compliance issues.
- Submit performance reports to RPRA as required
- Submitting annual performance reports on behalf of Producer clients to the Resource Productivity and Recovery Authority (RPRA).
- Monitor of collection network locations and operations against regulatory requirements.
- This is an on-site role (in Oakville) with schedule flexibility on a 6 months contract
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, environmental management, or a related field.
- 2-5 years of experience in a compliance-related role, with a strong understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance best practices.
- Proven experience in conducting audits, managing compliance programs, and handling investigations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex regulatory requirements and develop practical solutions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with employees, management, and regulatory agencies.
- Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of business process optimization and workflow analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently.
- Highly organized and detailed oriented with a demonstrated ability to manage concurrent priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Adaptable and able to thrive in a fast-paced and evolving project environment.
- Valid drivers licence and access to a vehicle.
Salary: $75,000 - $85,000/year
Contract: 6 months
