Job Summary
Main Street Project’s Withdrawal Management Services assist individuals on their journey to reduce harm or move towards lasting recovery. The primary purpose of our two facilities is to help individuals create attainable goals including stabilization and decreased risk, accessing longer treatment programs, managing stressful life issues and processing previous traumatic events.
Reporting to the Manager of Withdrawal Management Services, the Withdrawal Management Services Program Coordinator provides staffing and management support to all shelter employees while maintaining the core values of MSP regarding harm reduction, choice, equity, and diversity to encourage individuals’ capacity building. They provide both administrative (payroll, timecard approvals, policy administration and compliance etc.) support and in the professional development (coaching, policy adherence, workplace feedback, etc.) of front-line staff. In collaboration with the program manager, this role will focus on training and implementation of new Provincial WMS Standards.
- Oversee training and provide direction to Withdrawal Management Services Staff in their day-to-day duties
- Insure that MSP WMS meets Provincial Withdrawal Management Service Standards
- Collaborate with WMS Leadership on policy development, implementation, and procedure adherence
- Take the lead on providing Documentation Audits and supporting Medication Audits along with the WMS Nurse Practitioner
- Collaborate with Intake Worker Staff to ensure that the wait list and unique scenarios pertaining to admissions are regularly supported
- Assist the WMS Leadership Team in researching and developing new initiatives
- Coordinate employee on-boarding and training to both new and existing MSP Staff
- Communicate organizational updates to WMS Employees on a regular basis, answer queries, and provide information as needed
- Monitor ongoing work, identify problems, and make recommendations for continuous improvements of procedures and policies
- Support Program Manager with Employee Performance Management, providing updates to WMS Leadership on Staff performance in a timely manner
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, providing relevant Participant information
- Ensure employees follow safe work practices and MSP standard operating policies and procedures
- Lead team debrief following incidents as per operational policies and procedures
- Support the program manager in ensuring a high level of participant care, addressing any participant concerns or feedback; documenting and communicating updates to the WMS leadership team
- Provide Support, Case Work, and Intake coverage on an emergency basis when needed
- Provide crisis prevention and intervention as needed
- Attend and plan mandatory Staff meetings, workshops and training sessions
- Reports any requested stats in a timely and accurate manner
- Two years’ experience in human services, preferably working with adults challenged by homelessness, mental illness and/or chemical dependency
- Relevant post-secondary education is considered an asset.
- Experience in a management or administrative role is considered an asset
- Proficient computer literacy
- Ability to communicate and work effectively with staff from various backgrounds and disciplines.
- Knowledge of addictions, mental health, and co-occurring disorder best practices
- Understanding of acute care detoxification clinical processes
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work from a participant-centered care philosophy
- Ability to assess crisis and work in a crisis situation
- Ability to understand and comply with PHIA regulations
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and excellent listening skills
- Ability to communicate and work effectively in a multidisciplinary team
- Subscribe to philosophy of cooperation and continuity across programs, and of consideration and respect for participants
- Knowledge of Indigenous culture, Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action, and UNDRIP
- Knowledge of the effects of poverty and the determinants of health
- Ability to work effectively with participants displaying unpleasant and/or aggressive behavior
- Demonstrated ability to apply Harm Reduction and Housing First philosophies in their day-to-day support of participants
- Ability to work flexible hours to meet program needs
Additional Requirement
- Satisfactory Criminal Record with clear Vulnerable Sector Search, and a clear Adult Abuse Registry Check required. The employee is responsible for any service charges incurred.
- Valid CPR & Basic First Aid
- Non-violent Crisis Intervention and mental health first aid training is considered an asset.
- Valid Manitoba class 5 driver’s license
