Easter Seals McQueen Home:
Easter Seals Alberta’s McQueen Home in Edmonton is a nine-bedroom residence supporting individuals with disabilities who require high levels of personal care and cannot live independently without assistance. Residents are encouraged to actively engage in their communities through volunteering, education, part-time work, and maintaining connections with family and friends.
The home provides a safe and secure environment with 24/7 staffing, including a dedicated medical team. Residents’ conditions vary and currently include Cerebral Palsy, Muscular Dystrophy, Multiple Sclerosis, and Spina Bifida.
As an LPN, you will:

Responsibilities:
Resident Support
• Administer medications, treatments, and interventions in accordance with physician orders and best practices, including wound and catheter care.
• Provide leadership to the HCA team and ensure consistent application of best practices.
• Lead training for HCAs on medical policies, procedures, and emergency response.
• Assist residents with daily living activities, ensuring comfort and cleanliness.
• Support mobility and safe transfers, including assisting residents in and out of bed.
• Foster emotional well-being through meaningful engagement such as conversation and active listening.
• Accurately document and report incidents, health changes, and care updates.
• Monitor residents’ well-being and report any concerns proactively.
• Conduct comprehensive assessments of residents’ physical, emotional, and psychosocial health on admission and ongoing.
• Communicate effectively with residents, families, and the healthcare team regarding care plans and health updates.
• Collaborate with physicians and allied health professionals to develop and review care plans.
• Act as a liaison between residents, families, and the care team, advocating for resident needs and preferences.
• Provide first aid and coordinate emergency medical services when required.
Qualifications:
• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in Alberta.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification.
• Experience in continuing care is considered an asset.
• Experience supporting individuals with disabilities.
• Strong clinical assessment, bedside nursing, and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Compassionate, respectful, and resident-centered approach to care.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of regulatory standards, infection control, and health and safety practices.
Other:
• 8 hours/week, Day Shift (7:00 AM – 3:00 PM), with opportunities to pick up additional shifts when available.
• Work location: McQueen Home, Edmonton.
• Police Information Check and Vulnerable Sector Search required as conditions of employment.
