The mining engineering candidate will assist mining engineers in their duties and responsibilities. Based at the Windfall site, located in the Nord-du-Québec region, they will be required to work a schedule of 15 days on followed by 13 days off. Transportation, accommodation, and meals provided.
Duties and responsibilities
•Assist mining engineers in their tasks and responsibilities;
•Participate in various engineering projects, including ramp development, ground control, ventilation, permanent infrastructure, and dewatering, in order to enhance the Windfall project;
•Support mining engineers in writing daily progress reports as well as monthly reports and associated variances;
•Actively participate in various organizational meetings;
•Report any situation that could affect work to your immediate supervisor and submit recommendations for corrective measures;
•Act as a leader in safety, environment, and community relations to help achieve the highest standards;
•Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety and accident prevention standards and implement corrective measures;
•Also, assist engineering in the design and modeling of the primary and secondary ventilation network and assess ventilation needs to support operations;
•Perform any other tasks related to the position of candidate for the profession of mining engineer that are relevant to the success of the project.
Qualifications required
•Be a member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) as a candidate for the engineering profession;
•Have experience in the mining field (an asset);
•Hold a valid Class 5 driver's license;
•Hold a valid explosives license;
•Have completed mining modules (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 7) (an asset).
Technical skills
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office;
•Knowledge of specialized software such as AutoCAD, Ventsim, Rocscience, and Deswik;
•Good knowledge of laws and regulations applicable to mining exploration and exploitation sites.
Basic skills
•Demonstrate rigor in occupational health and safety;
•Have excellent command of French and good knowledge of English;
•Be an excellent team player and demonstrate tact;
•Be flexible and open to change and constructive feedback;
•Have good organizational skills and the ability to recognize priorities;
•Be independent, show initiative, and be able to handle several files at once;
•Be thorough and show ethics and integrity.
