Position Overview
Kids Cancer Care is looking for Seasonal Maintenance Assistant to work at our residential summer camp. This is a summer seasonal position reporting to the Maintenance Manager. The Seasonal Maintenance Assistant is responsible for assisting in the care and development of our 160 acre Camp Kindle site. Tasks included lawn mowing, grounds care, path and trail maintenance, basic maintenance and daily safety checks, swimming pool sampling and cleaning, painting and other tasks to ensure that all children, staff and visitors remained safe.
Key Areas of Responsibility
In
accordance with the approved Kids Cancer Care policies, the Seasonal Maintenance
Assistant will be responsible for the following operations, protocols and
services related to Camp Kindle.
Maintenance:
- Assist with the completion of daily, weekly and monthly inspection schedules and documentation as required.
- Follow daily, weekly and monthly maintenance schedules as required.
- Prioritize maintenance and repair activities as required to ensure safety within all camp facilities and equipment.
- Maintain and safely store all maintenance equipment, tools and supplies.
Security:
- Follow protocols and measures to ensure the camp facilities and equipment are properly locked and secure when not in use in order to minimize loss and unauthorized entry or usage.
- Keep boundaries and access points clearly marked and repair fence lines and gateways as required.
Grounds Keeping:
- Present the grounds as pristine and picturesque as possible generating an atmosphere for belonging and healing.
- Coordinate and follow schedules for grounds keeping activities with minimal impact to programming.
- Maintain equipment and grounds as required.
Qualifications
- Applicant must be between 15 and 30 years of age to be eligible for the Canada Summer Jobs Grant.
- At least two years of maintenance experience.
- Maintenance experience including building systems and competency in all custodial abilities, general repairs, and upkeep as well as an aptitude for engine maintenance, standard shop equipment, and maintenance techniques.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and “people” skills.
- Must provide a current Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search (can be obtained through Kids Cancer Care).
- Must have a valid Driver’s License with a clear Driver’s Abstract.
- Must have reliable transportation.

Summer, June – August 2025.
Location
Camp Kindle is located in Water Valley, Alberta, about an hour Northwest of Calgary.
