Sales & Buyer Representative - Nova Scotia

John Ross is a fourth-generation, family-owned international scrap metal recycling business, operating for over 70 years, with eleven locations, making us the largest recycling facility in Atlantic Canada and one of the largest exporters out of the Port of Halifax!

Specializing in the grading and purchasing both ferrous and non-ferrous materials for customers in the recycling industry, John Ross & Sons Ltd. is searching for an energetic and motivated Buyer for Nova Scotia!

This is a travelling role through the province of Nova Scotia. Successful candidate can live anywhere and will report to the Manager at our Truro location. MUST have sales or buying experience.

Specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

• Monitor market fluctuations and accordingly adjust pricing through the process of learning and implementing supply and demand calculations.

• Attracting new business.

• Expanding supply chain

• Approaching new customers and buying ferrous and non-ferrous metals

• Research and present recommendations to senior management on new markets and growth opportunities

• Travel within the province of Nova Scotia overnight.

• Create and execute monthly buying plans/routes to ensure ongoing communication with customers.

What you bring to the table:

• Familiar with ferrous and non-ferrous metal grades.  Encouraged, not required.

• Attention to detail.

• Hard working and proficient with Microsoft Office – specifically Outlook and Excel.

• A self-starter with a willingness to learn, ambitious, and energetic.

• Excellent negotiation skills with a focus on driving results.
