Your Role


This position will assist with the day-to-day operation of the sport and recreation programs, leagues, tournaments, and events for a variety of age groups in the community of Wood Buffalo. In addition, this position will be monitoring and tending the Sports and Fitness amenities and its inclusions within the Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo (RRC). This position holds a high level of responsibility within the operations of the Sport & Recreation Department and must demonstrate an exemplary level of customer service.


Your Responsibilities


Responsible for the administration of the department, including check-ins of customers, data entry, daily reports, and bookings. 

Responsible for set up and take down of sport and fitness equipment and supplies.

Support with the creation of new programming

Deliver and support with programs, tournaments, leagues, and events.

Provide exemplary customer service by assisting patrons with general enquires.

Processes point of sale (POS) payments and sales in a friendly and efficient manner, modelling accuracy, upselling techniques, and proper cash handling skills.

Promote classes, programming, and services.

Cleaning and preventative maintenance of equipment and supplies.

Ensuring all the RRC policies and procedures are adhered to in a safe and secure environment.

Establishes and maintains a cooperative/collaborative working relationship with other departments and Rural Facilities within the RRC through positive actions and communication.

All other duties as assigned.

Rural Facilities:

May be responsible for the development, administration, delivery, and support of rural programming & events as necessary to meet community needs. This includes all types of programming including sport & fitness, art, child, youth, & senior programming.

Work with community organizations, to develop program, & event collaboration


Qualifications: Education & Experience


High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

One to Two (1 to 2) years coaching within a sport environment or (2) years working within the fitness industry

Current Intermediate First Aid/CPR/AED Certification or equivalent (including CPR C).

Valid High 5 PHCD Certificate and/or valid NCCP certificate.


Qualifications:  Knowledge, Skills & Abilities


Participated in High School, College, University Sports, or Sports League/association. 

Familiarity of proper use of fitness equipment. 

Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to interact with a diverse and multicultural community.

Thrive in a team environment, enjoy working as a team member as well as independently. 

Possess strong organizational and initiative skills.

Ability to work with Word, Excel and Outlook.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Working Conditions


This position requires a flexible schedule including early morning, late night, weekend, and holiday work. 

This position may include heavy lifting of supplies and equipment up to 50 lbs.

This position may be exposed to loud noises and will require an individual to be able to concentrate in a busy environment.
