Title: Volunteer Youth Programs                                      

Location: Community YMCA

Volunteer Commitment: 2 hours per week - after school, evenings and weekends

Community Y Youth Program Opportunity

This position is responsible for assisting in ensuring quality, safe, and inclusive program delivery with a focus on relationship building, socialization and more. In this position you will assist in delivering programing that helps youth explore new opportunities and refine skills as well as providing a safe, supervised and inclusive environment to engage in activities to grow their skills and confidence.

 

The Community YMCA runs a wide variety of youth programming such as cooking programs, bingo, craft nights and more. Evening programming is a requirement of the position weekday evenings.

 

Responsibilities


  • Program delivery: Responsible for assisting in the delivery of hands-on program activity plans for school age youth (ages 5-17) to enhance/provide participants with a safe, inclusive, positive environment. Program facilitation is in keeping with established outcomes/objectives, in addition to YMCA quality and child safeguarding standards, and provincial regulations.
  • Program delivery Includes: program set-up/take down, preparation of materials and procurement of supplies/equipment; program evaluation and measurements of success.
  • Leading by example and forming positive relationships with youth within the program through supervision and mentorship.
  • Ensure the safety of youth in the program by following proper child safeguarding procedures. 

Please note that the successful candidate is required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check, clear Child Abuse Registry Check, and valid First Aid and CPR training. We look forward to hearing from you!
