Mechanical Foreman

Williams Lake, BC $46.18/hour

Dawson Road Maintenance is looking for a Mechanical Foreman who will manage and support a team of technicians, oversee maintenance operation, while ensuring safety and compliance with regulations. 

In this role you will be a valued member of Dawson Road Maintenance, working in a permanent, full-time position of Mechanical Foreman, reporting to Manager, Maintenance. This position maintains, rebuilds, overhauls, reconditions, and does diagnostic troubleshooting of motorized commercial trucks, buses, and road transport equipment. This position works closely with the Parts Department and Service Advisors. Your base location will be Williams Lake, BC and may require some travel throughout our great province.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

Serve as the leading journeyperson mechanic in Service Area 17 shops

Assign work, oversee performance, and provide guidance to mechanics and helpers. 

Perform mechanical repairs and maintenance as needed, including responding to emergencies or special requests. 

Conduct Quality Control and Assurance Inspections (QC/QA) on equipment and maintenance processes and perform CVIP inspections.

Liaise with road supervisors and managers to prioritize services and repairs, and manage work schedules to ensure timeliness, quality, and safety. 

Overseeing parts requisitions and inventory allocation according to DRM policies. 

Ensure proper completion and filing of forms for equipment PM services per DRM and CVSE PM program requirements. 

Participate in safety and operations meetings as needed. 

Travel within the service area as required, in all weather conditions.


WHAT YOU BRING

Must hold a Red Seal Certificate in Heavy Duty, Commercial Transport, or Automotive (with at least 5 years' experience in highway maintenance equipment) 

Commercial Vehicle Inspector’s Certificate (Authorized Inspector). 

Class 5 Driver’s License with air brake endorsement is required.

Demonstrated experience supervising and delegating tasks to a team of technicians in a unionized environment and managing shops with light/heavy equipment and various suppliers or third-party service providers.

Proficient in verbal communication and basic computer applications such as Outlook, Word, and Excel. Familiarity with diagnostic software is an asset.
