Summary of Duties:
Reporting to the Health & Healing/Pq’usnalcw Operations Manager, the custodian will ensure the cleanliness of Lil’wat Health and Healing/Pq’usnalcw in all areas inside and outside. The custodian will ensure the facility is clean and neat, in a safe manner that meets company standards. They use cleaning chemicals to maintain equipment and other supplies while dusting, vacuuming, mopping, and cleaning restrooms.
Key Deliverables and Expectations:
- Ensure the cleanliness and disinfection of the floors, windows, fixtures (in all washrooms) daily, refill washroom dispensers as needed.
- Ensure the facility is secured and locked when not in use.
- Complete daily cleaning schedules including dusting, sweeping, vacuum, mopping, wiping down all surfaces in all offices, and restrooms.
- Operate various industrial cleaning equipment such as buffers, vacuum cleaners, carpet machines, steam cleaner.
- Move and clean, dust and wipe furniture and underneath and put back.
- Empty trashcans, other waste containers, and recyclables and ensuring they are sorted into appropriate bins in the waste area.
- Wash interior windows, interior walls.
- Clean and disinfect kitchen area, including the small appliance.
- Refill paper towel, tissue, toilet paper, hand soap, and hand sanitizer in all dispensers when required.
- Ensure all mats, carpets by all doorways are steam cleaned weekly.
- Launder cleaning rags and dust mop when needed.
- Collects and dispose of garbage/recycled materials.
- Advise the Office Manager of needed supplies and recommend what is required.
- Report any maintenance and safety concerns to the Operations Manager.
- Follows all applicable safety rules and procedures.
- Perform other related duties as requested.
Experience and Attributes
- Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent education
- Building Services Worker (1-3 years) training is an asset.
- First Aid/CPR certification is an asset.
- WHMIS certification is an asset.
- Previous experience in custodial or janitorial work.
- Knowledge of cleaning equipment.
- Knowledge and understanding of Líl̓wat Nation community, history, culture, language, and customs.
- Excellent interpersonal and people skills.
- Strong ability to work collaboratively as a team player.
- Ability to work flexible hours.
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds.
- Must be able to provide a clear Criminal Record Check, including the vulnerable sector.
