Karate Instructor – After-School Program

Location: Kells Academy – NDG, Montreal
Schedule: Thursdays, 3:10 p.m. – 4:10 p.m.
Start Date: Thursday, September 24, 2026
Duration: 9 weeks
Age Group: Kindergarten to Grade 4

Laurus is looking for an enthusiastic and engaging Karate Instructor to lead a weekly after-school karate program for children from Kindergarten to Grade 4 at Kells Academy in NDG.

The instructor will introduce students to the fundamentals of karate in a safe, positive, age-appropriate, and fun environment. The program should help children develop coordination, confidence, focus, discipline, and respect while keeping them active and engaged.

• Plan and lead a structured one-hour karate class each week.
• Teach age-appropriate karate fundamentals, including basic stances, movements, techniques, and coordination exercises.
• Adapt activities to accommodate children of different ages, abilities, and experience levels.
• Incorporate games and engaging activities to keep younger participants motivated and involved.
• Promote values such as respect, self-control, perseverance, confidence, and teamwork.
• Maintain a safe and supportive environment throughout each session.
• Manage the group effectively and encourage positive participation.
• Ensure activities and techniques are appropriate for an elementary-school after-school setting.

• Experience practicing and/or teaching karate or another relevant martial art.
• Experience working with children, particularly elementary-school-aged children.
• Strong communication and group-management skills.
• Energetic, patient, dependable, and comfortable working with younger children.
• Ability to create an inclusive and encouraging learning environment.
• Teaching, coaching, or martial arts instructor certification is considered an asset.
