POSITION SUMMARY

Join TNDC’s Mechanical Team at Red Chris Mine, where you will play a key role in keeping our fleet and equipment operating safely and reliably. In this hands-on role, you will use your troubleshooting and mechanical expertise to inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair light-duty vehicles and related equipment in a remote camp environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Inspect, diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair light-duty vehicles and related equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance in accordance with manufacturer and company specifications.
  • Investigate vehicle deficiencies, breakdowns, and mechanical malfunctions.
  • Repair and replace components including engines, drivetrains, steering, suspension, braking, and electrical systems.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to identify mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Complete routine servicing including oil changes, lubrication, fluid checks, and inspections.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and repair documentation.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely and in compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Communicate equipment status, repair requirements, and maintenance needs to supervisors.
  • Participate in toolbox meetings, safety meetings, and required training programs.
  • Assist with fleet inspections and equipment readiness initiatives.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts within the maintenance department.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Licensed Automotive Service Technician required; Red Seal (Interprovincial Certification) considered an asset.
  • Experience maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing gasoline and diesel-powered light-duty vehicles.
  • Ford F150–F550 experience considered an asset.
  • Experience working in mining, industrial, construction, or heavy industry environments is preferred.
  • Proficient with diagnostic software, scanners, testing equipment, fleet maintenance systems, and repair documentation.
  • Strong knowledge of automotive systems, including engines, transmissions, steering, suspension, braking, electrical, and HVAC systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, service bulletins, and diagnostic reports.
  • Strong mechanical, electrical, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of preventative maintenance programs, fleet maintenance practices, and workplace safety standards.
  • Strong organizational, time management, recordkeeping, and documentation skills with a high attention to detail.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments and trades.
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and adapt to changing operational requirements in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to safely work in a remote mining or industrial setting, including lifting up to 50 lbs. and working 12-hour shifts.
  • OFA and WHMIS certifications are considered assets.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to mentor, train, and share technical knowledge with apprentices, trainees, and coworkers.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
