Role Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Building Operator to join our operations team. In this pivotal role, you will report directly to the Property Manager and play a key part in maintaining our properties in a safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible manner. Your expertise will ensure that our buildings run smoothly and provide a welcoming environment for all residents.
What You’ll Do:
As a Building Operator, you will be involved in various essential tasks, including but not limited to:
- Mechanical Systems Management: Install, repair, and maintain climate control systems, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
- Building Automation Systems (BAS): Monitor and operate BAS and computerized control systems to optimize building performance.
- Preventative Maintenance: Oversee and contribute to our Planned Maintenance Program and Energy Management Program for peak efficiency.
- Safety and Compliance: Conduct regular safety inspections, including emergency systems testing and fire alarm verifications.
- Interior and Exterior Upkeep: Maintain the aesthetic appeal of residential spaces through general maintenance, ensuring the property reflects our commitment to excellence.
- Tenant Support: Respond promptly to tenant service requests, fostering positive relationships and enhancing their living experience.
What We’re Looking For:
To thrive in this role, you should have:
- A high school diploma or equivalent (trade school or technical training preferred).
- A 4th or 5th Class Power Engineering certificate and ABSA certification.
- Relevant certifications in HVAC/R or mechanical systems maintenance.
- Solid knowledge of building systems and experience with BAS and computerized control systems.
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- The physical ability to perform manual tasks, lift heavy equipment, and work outdoors in various conditions.
