Reporting to the Industrial Safety and Security Coordinator, the Preventionist will ensure that Windfall project operations are safe and comply with occupational health and safety standards, while adhering to the regulatory framework established by the Company and the mining industry. He or she will support OHS activities and implement prevention procedures and policies. Will work on a 15-day work schedule followed by 13 days off. Transportation, accommodation, and meals provided.

Duties and responsibilities

•Assess the regulatory compliance of the Windfall project site and protection needs;

•Participate in the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and tools to ensure safe work practices;

•Conduct workplace inspections, risk analyses, task observations, and compliance audits;

•Identify, evaluate, and propose corrective actions for risks related to existing equipment and processes with a view to eliminating risks and workplace injuries at the source;

•Support emergency response measures;

•Support the implementation of the communication and mobilization plan to promote employee awareness, motivation, and participation in prevention and OHS;

•Provide advice and day-to-day management of prevention programs for employees and supervisors to ensure a common and effective approach;

•Support supervisors and managers in their prevention activities;

•Provide support to supervisors and managers during accident investigations and analyses;

•Work closely with nursing staff on preventive measures;

•Support the emergency response coordinator by assisting in maintaining and complying with emergency and prevention plans and procedures on site;

•Participate in various OHS committees and meetings as required;

•Support OHS-related activities and contribute to the implementation of a new OHS culture focused on company values;

•Contribute to site training plans by providing orientation sessions to employees and certain specialized training in health, safety, and hygiene;

•Collaborate with the CNESST inspector as needed;

•Comply at all times with health, safety, and environmental policies and rules and ensure that staff comply with these rules;

•Perform any other tasks related to the Preventionist position that are relevant to the success of the project.


Qualifications required

•Hold a certificate in OHS or any other field related to occupational health and safety. A combination of experience and education may be considered;

•Have experience in health and safety as well as in mining operations or exploration;

•Possess mining modules (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 7), (an asset);

•Possess a valid Class 5 driver's license;

•Possess an explosives license;

•Bilingualism (French and English), (an asset).


Technical skills

•Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation;

•Knowledge of the mining industry;

•Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Excel, Outlook, etc.).


Basic skills

•Ability to work in a team through collaboration, information sharing, and efficient communication;

•Good organizational, planning, and priority management skills;

•Good written and verbal communication skills;

•Strong organizational and interpersonal skills;

•Demonstrated initiative and leadership;

•Ability to manage multiple files simultaneously and work under pressure or in ambiguous situations;

•Ability to work in remote locations.
