About the Role

Laurus is looking for an energetic, creative, and engaging Dance Instructor to lead a 10-week after-school dance program for children from Kindergarten to Grade 4.

The instructor will create a fun and welcoming environment where children can explore movement, develop coordination and rhythm, build confidence, and express themselves through dance.

The program should be accessible to children with different levels of dance experience and focus on participation, creativity, movement, and fun.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and lead one-hour weekly dance classes for children from Kindergarten to Grade 4.
  • Teach age-appropriate dance fundamentals, including rhythm, coordination, musicality, movement, and basic choreography.
  • Create engaging activities and routines adapted to the ages and abilities of the group.
  • Introduce children to different dance styles and creative movement.
  • Encourage confidence, creativity, teamwork, and self-expression.
  • Maintain positive and effective group management throughout each class.
  • Create an inclusive environment where all children feel comfortable participating, regardless of previous dance experience.
  • Ensure the physical and emotional safety of participants.
  • Prepare appropriate music, activities, and any required materials for each class.
  • Communicate professionally with Laurus and school staff as required.
  • Follow all Laurus policies and procedures related to child safety, behaviour management, and inclusion.
What We’re Looking For
  • Dance training or equivalent practical dance experience.
  • Previous experience teaching dance or working with children is strongly preferred.
  • Comfortable working with children approximately 5 to 10 years old.
  • Energetic, patient, creative, reliable, and enthusiastic.
  • Strong communication and group-management skills.
  • Ability to adapt instruction to different ages, abilities, and levels of experience.
  • Ability to independently plan and deliver engaging weekly classes.

The program runs for 10 Mondays beginning September 14, 2026, from 3:10 PM to 4:10 PM.
