What the Role is Quacked Up to Be 

​​Reporting to the Resort General Manager, the Housekeeping Manager leads the housekeeping team to deliver a consistently clean resort while maintaining an exceptional employee experience. Through hands-on leadership and close collaboration with Front Desk, Maintenance, ROAR and the Staff Accommodation Manager, this role drives housekeeping efficiency while ensuring guests and team members feel cared for, and proud of the spaces they share. ​  

In your first 3 months, you will… 

  • Spend time with your team, working in rooms with them to learn our standards and processes 

  • Sit down and meet with each member of your team to learn more about their story and goals 

  • Learn the ins and outs of our hotel, how it is currently being run, systems and processes with an eye to identify gaps and areas of improvement 

  • Build relationships with the leadership team in Tofino including the Resort General Manager, Assistant Manager, Staff Accommodation Manager, Front Desk Supervisor, and the ROAR Tofino restaurant leadership team 

  • Take ownership of scheduling and managing your team 

  • Meet with People & Culture (P&C) to understand your responsibilities around performance management, leadership, HR procedures and P&C programs and benefits. 

  • Begin to champion the Pickle Program (our internal recognition program) with the team.   

  • Learn our process for hiring and interviewing, support the RGM with all recruitment needs for the housekeeping department   

  • Become an expert in our productivity and efficiency systemscoaching and training your team 

  • Get on top of supplies ordering and inventory managementand storage and organization of housekeeping spaces. 

In your first 12 months, you will… 

  • Know your team inside and out, able to identify key players for future development 

  • Take ownership of recruitment, onboarding, and training for your department 

  • Build and foster trusting relationships with your team across all departments 

  • Champion our internal recognition program and see an increase in Pickles being awarded across your team 

  • Understand and own the financial standing of your department and be able to confidently speak to the financials with your GM and Finance 

  • Ensure robust Health and Safety procedures are followed and championed with the team.   

  • Provide ongoing training, coaching and development for all team members and help them find paths to sustainable success.  

  • Develop a routine of frequent room checks to ensure a high standard of cleanliness and that our building and guest rooms are in outstanding working condition.   

This exciting role will be key to the continued success of Hotel Zed Tofino. You will have a unique opportunity to build upon an amazing foundation and position Hotel Zed as the place to be in Tofino and create a ripple throughout the local community.    

What to expect from us?

First Interview (45min): You will meet with Jamie Galano, our HR Manager, to discuss your previous experience and what draws you to Tofino.  

Second Interview (60min): You will meet with Myles, the Assistant Manager at Zed Tofino, and Tori Dean, Operations Manager, to discuss your leadership experience, Tofino's unique culture and environment, and the hotel operations. 

Final Interview (60min): You will meet with Matt Brear, the Resort Manager of Zed Tofino to discuss your experience as a leader, our Leading with Love philosophy, and how you envision your time at Hotel Zed Tofino
