Journeyman HVAC Technician (HVAC & Plumbing)
Position Summary:
The Journeyman HVAC Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and installing residential heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and related comfort systems while delivering exceptional customer service. This role also requires the ability and willingness to perform residential plumbing service work as business needs require.
As a trusted technical expert, the Journeyman HVAC Technician represents The Gentlemen Pros in customers' homes by providing professional recommendations, educating homeowners on system performance, and delivering high-quality workmanship that exceeds expectations.
Primary Goal: Deliver exceptional customer experiences while maximizing service opportunities through expert diagnostics, quality repairs, preventative maintenance, and system solutions.
Core Focus: Residential HVAC service, maintenance, installations, customer education, plumbing support, and revenue generation through ethical recommendations.
HVAC Service & Repair
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain residential heating, cooling, and ventilation equipment.
- Perform preventative maintenance on furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, boilers, humidifiers, air quality products, and related HVAC systems.
- Complete accurate system diagnostics and recommend appropriate repair or replacement options.
- Perform equipment start-ups and verify proper system operation.
- Ensure all work meets manufacturer specifications and applicable codes.
Plumbing Support
- Perform residential plumbing repairs and service work when required.
- Diagnose and repair plumbing fixtures, water heaters, drainage issues, and basic residential plumbing systems.
- Cross-train and remain proficient in plumbing procedures to support business demands.
- Collaborate with plumbing technicians when larger projects require multiple trades.
Customer Service
- Deliver an exceptional customer experience on every service call.
- Clearly explain findings, repair options, and recommendations to homeowners.
- Educate customers on preventative maintenance and available comfort solutions.
- Build trust through professionalism, honesty, and technical expertise.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area inside customers' homes.
Sales & Revenue Generation
- Identify legitimate repair and replacement opportunities.
- Present repair and replacement options using company sales processes.
- Promote maintenance memberships and indoor air quality solutions when appropriate.
- Accurately document recommendations and estimates.
Documentation & Technology
- Utilize ServiceTitan to document all work completed.
- Record detailed job notes, photographs, equipment information, and customer recommendations.
- Complete invoices accurately and collect customer signatures when required.
- Maintain accurate inventory of truck stock and materials.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all company safety procedures and provincial regulations.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked service vehicle.
- Wear appropriate PPE at all times.
- Ensure compliance with Alberta gas codes, plumbing codes, and HVAC regulations.
- Maintain all required certifications and licences.
Team Collaboration
- Participate in team meetings and ongoing technical training.
- Support apprentices through coaching and mentorship.
- Communicate effectively with Dispatch, Customer Service Representatives, Service Manager, and fellow technicians.
- Maintain a positive attitude while supporting company goals and adapting to changing priorities.

Qualifications & Experience:
· Alberta Journeyman Refrigeration, Air Conditioning Mechanic, Gasfitter or Sheetmetal Certificate (Required)
· Residential HVAC service experience preferred.
· Residential plumbing experience or willingness to perform plumbing service work.
· Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities.
· Experience using ServiceTitan or similar field service software considered an asset.
Required Certifications and/or Documentation:
· Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s Licence and Drive’s Abstract
· Criminal Record Check

Working Conditions & Performance Expectations:
• Daily travel throughout Calgary and surrounding areas.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and on-call rotations as scheduled.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in confined spaces, attics, crawl spaces, and mechanical rooms.
