Central District Safety Advisor – Overview
As a member of HSE team and stationed in Rocky Mountain House the HSE Advisor will report to the HSE Manager and will work directly with the central operations team. This role will provide direct support to the production operations, production engineering, projects, and completions team.
You must be a self-starter with a high degree of personal discipline and maturity. The candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced work environment and be comfortable traveling to remote areas 3-4 days per week.
The Role
The successful candidate will be an integral part of the Central team with its main purpose to help improve and guide safety performance in the company while maximizing value from our assets. The candidate must be able to demonstrate safety leadership and initiative within the organization and be able to direct and collaborate with different work disciplines. Responsibilities include:
· Ensure that all workers conduct their operational activities in accordance with all health, safety and environmental policies and procedures.
· Advise, support and coach field operations in meeting regulatory and company HSE requirements.
· Conduct safety related training and information sessions.
· Support and sustain the use of the Operating Management System (OMS)
· Support HSE planning and risk assessment activities.
· Provide HSE resources and support to operational leaders as required.
· Lead discussions around concerns about safety performance and improvement.
· Provide monthly reports on safety performance as required.
· Assist in developing site-specific procedures and attend Haz-op and Task Risk Assessment meetings.
· Facilitate incident investigations, advise on the development of corrective actions, and share lessons learned prevent reoccurrence.
· Support the emergency response plan and exercises.
· Participate in internal / external audits as required.
· Assist with the implementation of corporate initiatives and other duties as assigned.
· Provide backup support to other field HSE Advisors and HSE Manager as required.
· Plan and lead regular site inspections, audits, and observations on field sites to ensure that risk management activities are effective and assess the safety performance.
The Person
· 10-15 years upstream oil and gas experience
· Production operations experience or work experience within facility construction would be preferred Excellent understanding of Health and Safety legislation.
· Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills with employees, contractors, and external service providers.
· Significant degree of initiative with the ability to work independently.
· Strong organizational skills with the ability to consistently meet deadlines.
· Canadian Registered Safety Professional designation (CRSP/CRST) or working towards the designation is required.
· National Construction Safety (NSCO) Training beneficial
· OHS diploma would be considered an asset.
· Tap-Root trained investigator.
· Competent with MS office, Teams, One Note, Outlook, and Velocity
