Digital and Website Specialist - Full Time
The Digital & Website Specialist at Calgary Humane Society is a key role within CHS’ Communications team. Reporting to the Manager of Communications, the Digital and Website Specialist is responsible for creating and managing compelling digital and website content to engage and inform the public about the mission, programs, and initiatives of Calgary Humane Society. This role requires a strong passion for animal welfare, excellent content creation skills, and proficiency in WordPress and website maintenance.
Responsibilities:
Website Management:
- Maintain and update the organization's website, ensuring content is accurate, up-to- date, and visually appealing.
- Develop and execute content strategies that highlight the organization’s mission, impact, stories, community outreach, and fundraising campaigns.
- Collaborate with the Manager of Communications and other team members to develop new website features, landing pages, and interactive content.
- Development of new web pages to promote programming, fundraising campaigns, and events while following the organization’s brand standards.
- Monitor and analyze website performance using analytics tools, making data-driven decisions to optimize future campaigns.
- Work with the Manager of Communications to create web strategy to bolster online presence.
Content Collection and Creation:
- Collaborate with the Manager of Communications and other team members to create and schedule engaging content that educates, entertains, and inspires target audiences across multiple social media platforms.
- Capture high-quality photographs and videos of animals, events, and initiatives to be used in various digital platforms.
Digital Campaigns:
- Assist with digital campaigns to support fundraising initiatives, highlight adoptable animals, promote events, and other organizational goals.
- Create compelling digital content and assets for campaigns, including email newsletters, digital ads, and landing pages.
- Monitor and analyze campaign performance using analytics tools, making data-driven decisions to optimize future campaigns.
Collaboration and Coordination:
- Collaborate with various internal teams, including all operational teams, Volunteer Resources, Community Services, and Fund Development teams, to gather information and ensure accurate representation of programs and services.
- Work closely with the Manager of Communications to align digital content strategies with overall organizational objectives.
- Coordinate with external vendors and volunteers, such as photographers or videographers, to support content creation needs.
Position Requirements:
- Post-secondary education and a minimum of 2 to 3 years’ experience in a related field such as marketing, communications, graphic design or computer science.
- Proven experience in website management, preferably in a non- profit or animal welfare organization.
- Expert proficiency using WordPress and web editing software.
- 2 – 3 years’ experience in web traffic monitoring/analytics.
- Experience in Photography and Creative Writing considered an asset.
- Experience with SEO, Google Analytics, and digital advertising platforms (e.g., Google Ads, Meta Ads) is considered an asset.
- Passion for animal welfare and a deep understanding of Calgary Humane Society's mission and values.
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Comfortable with, and physically capable of handling and interacting with a number of different animal species, including but not limited to dogs, cats, rabbits, rodents, birds, and reptiles.
- Flexibility to work outside of regular business hours to attend evening and weekend events.
- Must possess a Class 5 Drivers’ license and clean 3-year driver’s abstract.
- Successful candidate will be required to provide a criminal record check at their own expense to be arranged by CHS.
