Pay Grid: Professional ($20.90 - $29.45 per hour)
Reporting to: Elementary Vice Principal
Summary of Duties:
The Camp Counsellor (Winter) will plan and organize age-appropriate activities for learning and fun. They will supervise students to ensure they are safe. They will plan, purchase, and prepare snacks/lunch.
Key Deliverables and Expectations:
- Plan and Organize Winter Session – relevant to age group.
- Purchase and retain receipts for weekly groceries and supplies needed for programs.
- Prepare healthy snacks/lunch.
- Open communication with manager and parents/guardians. Maintain Facebook page with pictures, notices etc.
- Stay within the provided budget for program area.
- Facilitate various outdoor activities such as forest games, kayaking, canoeing, swimming, archery, hiking, wilderness navigation, orienteering, geocaching, fishing, etc.
- Provide first aid as necessary.
- Supervise participants on partial day, full day and multi-day programs in wilderness and institutional settings as well as during transit.
- Clean and prep facilities, program supplies, vehicles, etc.
- Attend required training sessions.
- Provide constructive feedback for supervisors, other staff, and programs.
- Perform other tasks as directed by a supervisor or manager.
Experience and Attributes:
- High School Diploma
- Special Education Assistant Certification or equivalent asset.
- Experience working with children between kindergarten through grade 12.
- Computer literate to maintain Facebook, permission slips, etc.
- Budgeting experience.
- First Aid an asset.
- Food Safe an asset.
- Driver’s License – with clear drivers abstract.
- Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector
