Groomer
Overview:
We are looking for a responsible and reliable individual to operate the snow groomer this winter. As a customer focused organization our responsibility is the safety and enjoyment of our guests. This means taking the time to not only operate equipment safely, but ensure the snow surface is of good quality when we open in the morning. Snow Valley is a non-smoking facility.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain awareness of your surroundings at all times
- Assist with vehicle maintenance as required
- Maintain a working knowledge of the snow groomer and the safest way to operate it
- Keep logs of vehicle maintenance, fuel levels, equipment conditions etc.
- Maintain a focus on quality of our snow condition
- Remain aware at all times during your shift of any hazards to you personally or the equipment. This means keeping distractions to a minimum.
- Keep the cab of the snow groomer clean and tidy; assist with tidying of the shop as needed.
- Use of the tiller and blade on the snow groomer to not only groom but push snow as needed.
- Work efficiently as all equipment must be off the hill by 9am at the latest, 7 days a week
Requirements:
- Previous grooming and/or heavy equipment operating experience
- A clean driving record
- A passion for working outdoors, specifically in the ski industry is an asset
- Mechanical aptitude
- A strong sense of motivation, responsibility and reliability is a must.
- Drug testing may be required for this position.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to walk on even/uneven/slippery terrain, climb/descend even/uneven/slippery terrain, climb/descend stairs, stand and/or sit for long periods of time, bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, lift objects that may be heavy, and be comfortable around and operating heavy equipment.
Working Conditions:
- Winter temperatures ranging from -10 to -30C
- Sitting for up to 6 hours at a time
- Working independently as we only have one groomer on the hill at a time (working alone)
- Follow the direction of the Operations Supervisors and Manager
Compensation:
This position is paid hourly, ranging from $18 an hour up to $28 based on experience. You will receive a season pass and discounts on food and beverage, rentals, retail and other mountain resort reciprocals. The hours for this position start early morning around 4am, and the snow cat must be off the hill for opening at 9am. (25 – 35 hrs/week)
