Lead Driver – Joey and Friends Empties
Position Summary:
The Lead Driver will serve as a key member of the driver team, providing leadership, guidance, and support to new and existing drivers. This role is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant operation of all vehicles, maintaining fleet standards, and assisting in the development and training of new staff. The Lead Driver will act as the first point of contact for driver-related questions and will collaborate closely with management to support operational goals. The lead driver will have 1 day in office per week and still be an active driver.
Key Responsibilities:
Driver Oversight and Training
Assist in onboarding and training new drivers, including vehicle operation, safety protocols, and company policies.
Conduct ride along
Provide mentorship and coaching feedback to drivers.
Serve as the primary point of contact for driver questions, concerns, and guidance.
Generate and upkeep a training manual and training program for all drivers.
Fleet and Vehicle Maintenance
Ensure all vehicles are maintained, clean, and ready for daily operations.
Schedule and coordinate regular vehicle inspections and service/repairs as needed.
Report any vehicle issues promptly to the supervisor.
Operations Support
Monitor and assist with route efficiency and adherence to schedules.
Count and maintain inventory of supplies
Spends one a day a week in office (Winnifred Stewart main building.)
Attend staff and operational meetings as required.
Support management in implementing driver policies, procedures, and safety standards.
Safety and Compliance
Complete OHS hazard and risk assessments and be an active member of the OHS team.
Promote safe driving practices and compliance with traffic regulations.
Conduct or assist with regular safety checks and training updates for drivers.
Hours of Work
Mon - Fri 8:00AM - 3:30PM
