Brightisle is seeking a skilled, compassionate, and proactive Safety and Wellness Lead to drive our health, safety, and wellness efforts forward.
In this role, you’ll bring your expertise in occupational health, disability management, and WorkplaceNL’s PRIME program to shape safe, inclusive environments where employees feel supported, empowered, and able to thrive. As the Safety and Wellness Lead you will:
As the Safety and Wellness Lead you will be responsible for the OHS program. We will look to you to ensure our operations are safe because of your knowledge of OHS legislation, WPNL’s PRIME program and best practise and your passion for ensuring employees feel safe and supported while at work. You will help develop and maintain our Health and Safety Program including hazard assessments, incident reporting and investigation, data collection and analysis and safety training. You’ll play a key role in fostering a culture of wellness by promoting safe work practices, supporting mental and physical well-being initiatives, and helping to create a healthy, inclusive environment where staff and clients can thrive.

What You’ll Be Responsible For
- Lead the occupational health and safety (OHS) program in partnership with the management team, ensuring alignment with WorkplaceNL’s PRIME employer incentive program.
- Advise
and support managers and employees in key areas of
OHS, including:
- Development and delivery of health and safety training.
- Recordkeeping and program implementation to support a safe work environment.
- Compliance with WorkplaceNL, provincial legislation, and regulatory requirements.
- Creation, review, and implementation of safety policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Oversight and coordination of Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committees.
- Provide
consultative support to HR Advisors on disability-related
absences and accommodation requests, including:
- Managing WorkplaceNL claims and reviewing incident reports.
- Identifying and recommending preventative measures.
- Collaborating with HR and Quality teams on early and safe return-to-work strategies.
- Oversee the incident and accident reporting process, lead investigations, and develop actionable recommendations in collaboration with employees and leadership.
- Monitor and analyze trends in health and safety data to inform strategic planning, training, and prevention efforts aimed at reducing risk and enhancing overall workplace safety.
- Support the development and delivery of employee health and wellness initiatives, promoting mental and physical well-being and contributing to a workplace culture where employees feel valued, supported, and able to thrive.
What you bring:
- You’ve completed a college diploma or university degree in an Occupational Health related field.
- You’ve worked in a role that was responsible for building strategy and programming focused on safety and wellness
- You have knowledge of, and the ability to interpret and apply relevant regulations, legislation, and acts such as Workplace NL and NL Occupational Health and Safety Regulations and other governmental regulatory bodies such as CSSD and the Provincial Health Authority. Or are willing to learn fast!
- You excel at building and maintaining strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, even in sensitive or high-stakes situations.
- Sharp critical thinking and sound decision-making skills
- Comfort with data and dashboards — not just tracking numbers but turning them into meaningful insights.
- Solid communication skills, curiosity, and a commitment to doing good work with good people.
