About the Role:

SCCSS is seeking a motivated and tech-savvy Summer Student – IT & Operations Assistant to support our staff and operations team with day-to-day technology and facilities coordination tasks. This role is ideal for someone starting their career, transitioning into the nonprofit sector, or on a summer student program. You’ll receive on-the-job training, mentorship and exposure to a wide range of administrative functions that are foundational to any career path.

What You’ll Do

Technology Suppor
t:

  • Provide in-person, phone, email, and virtual tech support to SCCSS staff across various sites.
  • Monitor and respond to IT support requests via the IT@sccss.ca helpdesk email.
  • Troubleshoot and assist with commonly used software (e.g., Windows, Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, MS Teams, Zoom, Acrobat).
  • Support use and functionality of desktop/laptop computers, tablets, printers, scanners, and mobile devices (iPhone 13)
  • Configure devices and applications, provide basic user training, and escalate issues as needed.
  • Document issue resolution and maintain organized ticket records.

Operational Support:

  • Collaborate with the Facilities Manager and Operations Administrator to support office moves, relocations, and equipment setup (MAC tasks – Move/Add/Change).
  • Manage inventory and coordinate software updates for IT equipment and peripherals.
  • Assist with internal communications related to operational updates and system maintenance.
  • Coordinate with external IT service providers (e.g., Service First Total Solutions, contractors, and mobile service providers) to resolve technical or equipment-related issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What You Bring

  • Must be between the ages of 15 and 30 years.
  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program, preferably in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic hardware/software issues with confidence.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, Zoom, and MS Teams.
  • Organized, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Previous customer service or IT support experience is an asset.
