About us!

The Youth Program Leader plans and leads activities for youth ages 11–18, creating a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment. As a front-line worker, you’ll build positive relationships with youth, families, and the community. This role requires a Class 5 license and availability in Parksville as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, lead, and evaluate fun, safe, and age-appropriate activities aligned with Club policies, mission, and vision

  • Foster positive and healthy relationships among youth participants

  • Address youth issues, incidents, or crises, providing support and reporting to the Youth Programs Manager or relevant agencies as needed

  • Ensure safe use and maintenance of program equipment and facilities, including van/bus inspections for participant transport

  • Maintain accurate program records (attendance, activity logs, statistics)

  • Support volunteers and practicum students assisting with program delivery

  • Participate in program evaluation, goal setting, and training opportunities

  • Administer first aid according to Club policies

  • Assist with special events, promotions, or other duties as required

Qualifications
  • Preference given to candidates with courses, diploma, or degree in Recreation Management, Child & Youth Care, or Education

  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License required; Class 4 considered an asset

  • Valid Community Care First Aid (or equivalent) 

  • Minimum 1 year of experience working with youth; experience with youth with special needs or behavioural challenges is an asset

Note: For programming needs, male candidates are preferred for this role.
