The Wound Care Nurse plays a critical role in the healthcare team, specializing in the assessment, treatment, and management of patients with acute and chronic wounds. Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough patient assessments to evaluate wound conditions and overall health status.
  • Develop individualized care plans based on patient needs and evidence-based practices.
  • Administer medications as prescribed and monitor patients for any adverse reactions.
  • Perform wound care procedures, including dressing changes, debridement, and application of topical treatments.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes and ensure comprehensive care.
  • Educate patients and families on wound care techniques, health coaching, and preventive measures.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of patient progress, treatments administered, and outcomes achieved.
  • Stay updated on the latest advancements in wound care management and medical terminology.

Skills

  • Proficient in patient assessment techniques to identify wound types and severity.
  • Strong knowledge of medical imaging processes relevant to wound evaluation.
  • Experience in medical-surgical nursing with a focus on wound management.
  • Familiarity with urgent care protocols for treating acute wounds.
  • Ability to administer medications safely and effectively within an ambulatory surgery center setting.
  • Understanding of critical care principles as they relate to complex wound cases.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective patient education and health coaching.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple cases efficiently while ensuring high-quality patient care.
