Role Description
The Wire Fabrication Trainee learns to use a variety of avionics tools, techniques, and materials to fabricate simple parts and subassemblies used in the completion of VIP aircraft.
Essential Job Functions
• Under close supervision, fabricate high-quality wire harnesses and subassemblies in accordance with Comlux approved procedures.
• Within 90 days, demonstrate the ability to interpret material specifications and engineering drawings to ensure fabricated parts meet design specifications, quality standards, and
customer expectations.
• Learn to request required materials using approved documentation and systems in a timely manner to support continuous workflow.
• Within 90 days, demonstrate the ability to follow all regulatory documentation requirements, including proper signoffs and completion of paperwork in accordance with the Comlux RSQM and other quality standards.
• Follow all departmental safety guidelines and ensure proper use of tools and equipment.
• Develop a basic understanding of company installation procedures, process specifications, and IOPs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications, Education and Experience
• High school diploma or GED required. Relevant trade school training is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of fabrication processes related to the corporate aviation industry, preferably within an aircraft completions environment.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering documentation.
Required Skills and Abilities
• Basic knowledge of, and willingness to learn, all aspects of the wire fabrication process.
• Willingness to learn RSQM and FAA requirements related to wire harnesses and subassembly fabrication.
• Working knowledge of computers and software applications utilized by Comlux.
• Willingness to learn lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement techniques.
• Ability to communicate in a professional, assertive, and tactful manner.
Please note that you will be on a ninety (90) day probation, during which your performance will be evaluated. Comlux shall periodically review your performance and ability to perform each of the essential functions of your position identified above prior to the expiration of the probationary period. If you fail to pass the performance review or display behavioral issues or fail to meet expectations for reporting to work on time as scheduled, you shall be considered as having failed to qualify for continued employment during the probationary period, in which case Comlux shall be entitled to immediately terminate your employment.
Work Environment
This position is based in an aircraft hangar environment and may involve:
• Exposure to varying temperatures and weather conditions
• Loud noise levels
• Use of heavy machinery and specialized tools
• Potential contact with chemicals or hazardous materials
• Working in confined aircraft interior spaces
