Summary Description: The basic function of the Field Engineer is to use computer software to create detailed technical drawings and plans for marine and industrial construction projects, conduct surveys (pre-construction, during construction, and post-construction), gather information and data, provide layout, create drawings, perform inspections with written reports, and assist in the various phases of marine and industrial construction projects. This role requires a strong understanding of marine engineering principles, excellent attention to detail, and proficiency in CAD (computer-aided design) software and in using surveying equipment.

Worksite Location(s): The company headquarters is in Harvey, Louisiana.  Most of our work, however, is performed at remote worksites along the Mississippi River, south of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, or at our own yard in Harvey, Louisiana, but we sometimes operate in other geographical areas.

Company Description: Stewart Construction, LLC provides a wide variety of industrial and marine construction services, including the fabrication, assembly, installation, maintenance, and repair of docks, wharfs, pilings, dolphins, fender systems, coffer dams, intake and outtake systems, ship and barge material handling systems, and other, similar systems and structures, as well as demolition and removal services.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 18+ years of age.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
  • Reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Must be able to pass a drug-screen.
  • Must be able to pass a background investigation.
  • Must pass be able pass a fit-for-duty examination.
  • TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential)
  • Eligible to enroll in the DISA program.
  • Proficient in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks).
  • Proficient in land surveying equipment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree or diploma in Drafting, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience as a structural or mechanical Drafter (preferably at an engineering firm).
  • Certification from ADDA (American Design Drafting Association) or similar institution.
