Web Designer & Developer
JOB SUMMARY
Community Bible Church (CBC) is looking for a creative Web Designer & Developer who can both dream up web pages and build them with code. This role is full-time and in-person at our Central Campus in San Antonio, TX. You’ll be responsible for designing new pages, updating existing ones, and making sure everything on communitybible.com is fast, mobile-friendly, and true to CBC’s mission and brand. You’ll sketch page concepts, present them, and then bring them to life with clean, working code. You’ll also connect pages with Rock RMS so events, forms, and groups stay up to date automatically.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

- Design and develop engaging, user-friendly web pages that are visually appealing, functional, and aligned with CBC’s brand
- Create wireframes and mockups to present concepts and gather feedback before development
- Build, style, and maintain pages using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, ensuring code quality and consistency
- Ensure accessibility and responsiveness, keeping all content mobile-friendly and compliant with best practices
- Integrate and maintain Rock RMS content, ensuring events, groups, forms, and workflows remain accurate and up to date
- Develop and embed forms and workflows within Rock RMS, including confirmations, notifications, and follow-up actions
- Monitor and analyze web performance through GA4 and Tag Manager, providing insights and reporting as needed.
- Test and troubleshoot web pages across browsers, devices, and environments; escalate complex technical issues to IT when necessary
- Collaborate closely with ministry leaders and the Communications & Marketing Team to provide timely and effective digital support
- Stay informed on trends and best practices in web development, digital communication, and ministry technology
- Communicate clearly and adaptively, responding to a variety of ministry needs with flexibility and a solutions-oriented mindset
- Other duties as assigned by the Communications Manager
COMPETENCIES
- Design Expertise – Ability to storyboard, wireframe, and create clean, user-centered digital layouts
- Front-End Development – Strong proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, with the ability to build responsive and accessible pages
- Technical Knowledge – Familiar with frameworks such as Bootstrap, version control using Git, and integrating APIs/JSON for dynamic content
- Analytics & Optimization – Experience setting up GA4 and Tag Manager to track engagement and improve performance
- Rock RMS Experience – Working knowledge of Rock RMS preferred; bonus skills include Lava templating, SQL, or C#
- UX/UI & Accessibility – Understanding of user experience, web accessibility standards (WCAG), and SEO best practices
- Creative Tools – Proficiency with design platforms such as Figma or Adobe Creative Suite
- Project Management – Strong attention to detail, with the ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Collaboration & Communication – Team-oriented, clear communicator, with a heart for ministry and a desire to serve others through technology
- Proficiency with digital communication tools, including social media platforms, content management systems, Google Workspace, and presentation software
- Ability to learn and adapt quickly to new technologies and ministry tools
- Ability to adapt flexibly to a variety of ministry and organizational needs
- Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical staff and volunteers
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to build positive relationships across ministries
- Energetic, motivated, and able to respond calmly and professionally to emergent or stressful situations
- A heart for ministry and a deep commitment to the mission and values of Community Bible Church, with a passion for using digital platforms to share the hope of Jesus
POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is a regular full-time in-person position (36-40hrs). Days and hours of operation are scheduled Monday through Thursday. Working weekends and evenings will be required as job duties demand.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to do the following:
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while working at a computer or attending meetings
- Good or corrected vision, including adequate peripheral vision and depth perception, with the ability to adjust focus as needed
- Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer, keyboards, and other office equipment
- Ability to move around the office to access files, meet with staff, or perform other tasks as needed
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in both written and verbal forms
- Ability to occasionally lift or move items weighing up to 15–20 pounds (e.g., boxes of supplies or equipment)
- Ability to perform occasional reaching, stooping, bending, or crouching
- Ability to work collaboratively and maintain effective communication with team members and ministry staff at all levels of the organization
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- 5+ years of professional web development experience in a comparable role
- Prior experience working in a church, ministry, or nonprofit environment
- Knowledge of UX/UI design principles and web accessibility standards
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Duties are performed primarily works in an office setting at CBC’s Central Campus, using computers and other digital equipment to perform job duties. The work may involve collaboration with team members, ministry leaders, and volunteers in meetings or project discussions. Occasional work outside the office or in different ministry spaces may be required to support events or projects. The role may involve managing multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment, requiring focus, adaptability, and effective stress management. Environmental noise levels are generally minimal to moderate.
