Water Resources Engineer
Biohabitats is seeking an entry-level Water Resources Engineer to join our Chesapeake/Delaware Bays Bioregion Team in Baltimore, Maryland.
The ideal candidate must have a strong interest in and exposure to ecological restoration, green infrastructure, and nature-based design as well as an educational background in a relevant engineering field. The Water Resources Engineer hired for this position will support our multi-disciplinary team on a range of projects related to stream and wetland restoration; shoreline restoration and climate resilience; and/or stormwater management and green infrastructure design.

Role and Responsibilities
· Supporting a range of planning and design projects (stream and wetland restoration; shoreline restoration and climate resilience; and/or stormwater management and green infrastructure design).
· Supporting production of plan sets for design projects (e.g., CAD drafting, printing, assembly, submittal, etc.).?
· Conducting natural resources and watershed inventories and field assessments.
· Providing other technical project support as needed (e.g., supporting development of site-specific concept designs, construction documents, specifications, cost estimates, etc.).
Required Skills, Experience, and Knowledge
· Understanding of stream and wetland restoration and/or stormwater management and green infrastructure design.
· Understanding of hydrologic and hydraulic principles.
· Proficient with AutoCAD.
· Proficient with Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
· Ability to support or lead field assessments under various weather and site conditions.
· Ability to work both collaboratively in a team environment and independently.
· Strong written and oral communication skills.
Preferred Skills, Experience, and Knowledge
· Professional or internship experience in stream and wetland restoration and/or stormwater management and green infrastructure design.
· Familiarity with stormwater regulations including NPDES (National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System) MS4 permit requirements and TMDLs (total maximum daily loads).
· Geomorphic assessment knowledge and experience.
· Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling programs (e.g., TR-55/TR-20, HEC-RAS, SWMM, HydroCAD, etc.).
· PCSWMM training and/or experience.
· Familiarity with ArcGIS.
· Familiarity with Python or other programming languages.
Education
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in relevant engineering (e.g., Civil, Environmental, or Ecological)
Years of Experience
0 – 2 years (internships, co-ops and volunteer activities are a plus)
Professional Registration
EIT or ability to obtain within six months of hire date
Salary Range
$65,000 - $80,000
