The Warehouse Manager is responsible for managing and coordinating the activities of the warehouse personnel at CMI-Auburn to meet shipping and production schedules both safely and efficiently, while best utilizing the department's resources.

Responsibilities and Duties

As a minimum, the following is a basic description of typical duties and responsibilities expected of the Warehouse Manager. These duties are not exhaustive and are subject to change as the needs of the organization require.  


  • Supervise, evaluate, and provide regular feedback to warehouse employees.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with CMI operating procedures to meet the requirements of ISO 9001:2015.
  • Coordinate and supervise production in accordance with established policies, principles, and procedures.
  • Manage all warehouse operations to ensure efficient use of materials, machines, and employees.  Plan and schedule preventative maintenance of equipment.
  • Assure warehouse personnel are trained to follow internal policies and procedures in accordance with Electric Boat/Newport News Level 1 Program requirements. 
  • Interpret and enforce company policies as well as basic safety and OSHA regulations (including OSHA SHARP requirements).
  • Maintain and enforce all safety and production policies and procedures.
  • Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product, suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of department.
  • Recommend personnel actions such as evaluations, promotions, transfers, and discharges.
  • Coordinate monthly safety and production meetings.
  • Actively motivate employee development and training.
  • Lead, coach, and train warehouse personnel in continuous improvement initiatives to meet and exceed CMI metrics.
  • Coordinate activities with other departments to ensure delivery schedules are met.
  • Monitor and maintain the inventory to minimize variances.
  • Manage and control expenditures of departmental consumables including all packaging consumables, i.e., PVC, cardboard, wood.
  • Improve material utilization and reduce scrap rates.
  • Adhere to all CMI safety rules, regulations, and quality standards.
  • Adhere to all CMI handbook policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Five or more years of warehouse management experience
  • Microsoft Office proficiency, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills
  • Ability to effectively multi-task and work independently on assigned tasks
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to transfer data accurately
  • Ability to motivate, train, and develop employees
  • Strong work ethic; self-motivated
  • Operate with high integrity, maintaining positive relations with co-workers, customers, and suppliers, and ensuring same standards from subordinates

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three or more years of experience in the metals industry
  • Product knowledge
