Darnold Mechanical, a commercial HVAC Mechanical Contracting, HVAC solutions and service company, is seeking a VP of Construction to join our growing team in Kenna, WV

The primary objective of the VP of Construction is to successfully manage all aspects of the Construction department, to ensure all projects are completed on schedule, within the estimated budget and results in satisfied customers. This person will report directly to the President of Darnold Mechanical. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participate in project turnover meetings with salesperson, estimator and designer. 
  • Lead and manage the project team, with the authority and responsibility to run the project on a day-to-day basis
  • Foster customer relationships and work collaboratively with all internal and external groups to effectively and efficiently meet clients’ needs. 
  • Utilize project turnover checklist to confirm scope of project.
  • Review project drawings and specifications to gain understanding of project scope.
  • Initiate project kickoff meeting with other required parties superintendent, foremen.
  • Provide foremen with estimated hours and discuss weekly progress of project.
  • Coordinate with foreman and other departments for proper field labor. 
  • Set objectives and goals with specific measures in conjunction with foreman.
  • Establish cash flow projections for projects.
  • Forecasting project financial progress
  • Coordinate inspections and subcontractors with the project schedule.
  • Ensure daily reports are generated daily by foremen. Review for content and accuracy.
  • Mentor  project foreman for successful project implementation.
  • Price, quote change orders, and submit RFIs.
  • Manage project financials – ECAC, forecasting, cash flow.
  • Assemble invoices- AIA.
  • Approve material, equipment and subcontractor invoices.
  • Enforce safety on job site.
  • Develop Construction department and hire future Project Management team
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of mechanical project management experience.
  • Experience with job costing and estimating costs to completion
  • Ability to communicate well and develop relationships with co-workers, customers, and subcontractors. 
  • Capable of writing notification letters, RFIs, Purchase Orders, Change Orders, etc.
  • Has strong mechanical plan/spec and design/build knowledge.
  • Ability to estimate Mechanical projects.
  • Must be able to work under pressure with minimal supervision.
