Hours: Weekdays after 3:30pm and/or Saturdays before 2:00pm

The Opportunity
Reporting to the Membership Director and Lead Membership staff, Member Experience Guides support the membership staff by engaging with members and non-members in the lobby (great hall), welcoming them, providing information about our programs and facility, as well as maintaining a clean and tidy space for all.
Responsibilities
- Greet members as they pass through the great hall.
- Provide a positive, inclusive, and welcoming environment to members and non-members in the great hall.
- Provide tailored information on available programs and amenities within the facility.
- Show members how to navigate the YMCA website on their smartphone or tablet.
- Show members how to log in, find alerts, and book classes and activities in the My Y app.
- Help membership staff monitor the entry of people into the members-only area(s) of the facility.
- Provide directions to different areas of the facility, sometimes navigating with the member/non-member to that area.
- Provide full-facility tours as needed.
- Assist the YMCA staff with documenting any incidents or accidents, no matter how minor, and communicate these back to the Duty Manager on the same day.
Qualifications & Skills
- Ability and desire to engage with, meet, and motivate, others.
- Strong work ethic and desire for cleanliness and tidiness.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Dedication to safety and quality.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Please note that all volunteers of the YMCA of Greater Halifax/Dartmouth are required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check, clear Child Abuse Registry Check.
