Position Title: Volunteer Live-in Housing Coordinator
Status: Part Time- evenings
Accommodation: 1-room apartment in Aurora House, free of rent (Toronto)

About the Organization:
The Mennonite New Life Centre (MNLCT) is a vibrant, multi-cultural settlement agency for newcomers to Canada. The Centre provides a variety of settlement services, including information/orientation, language instruction, mental health supports and capacity building workshops, public education and bridging to employment. The Centre is a tech-forward charity that utilizes technology solutions to meet the needs of its stakeholders.
Responsibilities include:
· Partial administrative, maintenance and program operational needs at Aurora House.
· Be approachable, listen, and act upon requests and needs as presented by AH and its residents within your work times.
· Be physically in AH 7pm - 7am on 4 days per week (as agreed to by yourself and AH management).
· Meet with residents regularly to build healthy relationships to ensure their housing needs are being met and to communicate AH’s expectations for respectful and meaningful program integration of residents.
· Support residents with their daily duties (recycling, laundry scheduling, and other basic tasks that are required daily).
· Encourage residents to follow the Aurora House manual.
· Maintain healthy relationships between residents and support conflict resolution in the event any conflicts arise.
· Communicate with maintenance volunteers for support when needed.
· You are encouraged to set and maintain your personal boundaries during your evening and night routines between 7pm and 7am. Times are negotiable.
· Other duties as required.
Qualifications:
· Preferable experience in working with vulnerable groups.
· Excellent verbal and written English language skills required; fluency in an additional language(s) would be an asset.
· Strong organizational skills; detail oriented.
· Computer literacy: database experience preferred.
· Ability to work independently and be a flexible team player.
· Passion for people and social justice
· Empathy, cultural sensitivity, and an anti-oppression approach.
· Must be willing to undergo vulnerable sector checks.
