Title: Volunteer Forever Fit Assistant
Hours: Weekdays during the daytime; minimum 3 hours per week
Location: Various locations around HRM

The Opportunity
Reporting to the Coordinator of Health and Active Living, the Forever Fit volunteer will assist the instructor with the facilitation of programming at the assigned Forever Fit site(s).
Responsibilities
- Arrive to the site a minimum of 15 minutes before start of class to assist with set-up of necessary supplies.
- Assist instructor with administrative tasks such as taking class attendance, especially for any participants who join after class has started.
- Assist the instructor with the collection of fees as needed.
- Help ensure participants are putting away their own equipment at the end of the class.
- Help the instructor ensure the space is clean and tidy before leaving.
- Maintain clear, frequent, and open communication with the Coordinator and the instructor at the assigned site(s), especially if running late or being unable to volunteer during an assigned day/time.
- Assist the instructor with documenting any incidents or accidents, no matter how minor they seem, and communicate these back to the Coordinator on the same day.
- Report any known or predicted safety hazards.
- Attend quarterly Forever Fit Advisory Committee meetings.
Qualifications & Skills
- A background and desire to engage in the field of health and fitness is ideal. This could be a personal fitness routine or formal fitness training/schooling.
- Dedication to safety and quality.
- Strong work ethic and desire for cleanliness and tidiness.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Promote other YMCA programs, services, and certifications during class(es) to help members engage in multiple forms of physical activity, community building, and begin their instructor journey.
